Tragic, Sad, & Heartbreaking An Angel’s Torment is the prequel to Eternally Mated series. This story focuses on Tegan and Ana the human he falls in love with. It’s their meeting, courtship, and what comes next. It’s not a happy story. No HEA. It doesn’t need to be read; before starting the Eternally Mated series. I read the Eternally Mated books; before reading the prequel. In the books and this short story it explains that only male Angel’s are born, so the Tribunal decreed a long time ago that it would be best for certain Angel’s to impregnate a human woman and then walk away. The women do have a choice in this. Why is this done? Because the human will only birth a female who one day can mate with an Angel. This little tidbit in the world makes me uncomfortable. I never liked it. It feels wrong. I get it, but it has always made me uneasy. Back to An Angel’s Torment. The writing is well done. Their was an interesting appearance and a very nice love scene. Tegan loves Ana, but deep down he knows they won’t get their happy ever after and what they do get are a few months of happiness and love. It’s a sad story. I felt that this short story was not necessary unless the author is planning on giving Tegan an HEA. It's just too sad and heartbreaking. Rated: 2 Stars

An Introduction: This is a short story but it packs a lot in. There are well-developed characters, a doomed love story, and a heartbreaking ending. It's not necessary to read Tegan and Ana's story before Fall into Darkness, but it gives some interesting background.

This is a very quick read, introducing the reader to the Seven, angels, demons, Nephilim. Ana is a human and Tegan is an elite angel. Tegan falls for Ana who is selected for him, and she is also part of a prophecy of sorts. Ana is a strong woman in love and willing to do what her love asks of her. Tegan wants to rebel against the Seven, but the threats against Ana make him step back from their love. I so enjoyed this story that I will be looking into the rest of the series. I received a copy of this story as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.

Ana is an exceptionally beautiful soul and after many casual encounters with Tegan, a face-to-face meeting finally occurs. But the reality of what Tegan really is, and the consequences of the love they share, may ultimately be the catalyst that tears them apart. This very short prequel to the Eternally Mated series, absolutely broke my heart. A gut-wrenching decision will leave a warrior angel bereft and bitter, and readers will want to scream out loud at the powers that be, and their lack of emotion when delivering Tegan’s fate. While I’m shattered by the events that unfolded, I am determined to read the first full-length story and discover what the author has planned for Tegan and his brethren. Ms Twombly has successfully managed to reel me in; hook, line and sinker.

An Angels Torment is just a glimpse of the love story of Tegan and Ana. This story has its own twist on love and loss. Tegan and Ana fall in love but when he goes to the seven to ask them to make Ana his mate, he is de nied and forced to walk away. This is a great start on the next book that follows. Once again Valerie Twombly does not disappoint!
