Overview

After a rebellious summer night that almost claimed her life, Amy Henderson – the Onslow publican’s only daughter – is sent away to suffer a fate far worse than any other punishment:

Boarding School.

Three years on, a now nineteen-year-old Amy returns to Onslow for the summer. What once was a cauldron of activity with live bands, hot meals and cold beers, the Onslow Hotel now lies dark, deserted and depressing. All fond childhood memories of loitering on the hotel stairs and eavesdropping on customers’ colourful conversations are in the distant past.

How had her dad let it come to this?

With the new threat of putting the Onslow up for sale, Amy reluctantly turns to a local tradesman for help: Sean Murphy, the very same Onslow boy who saved her life all those years ago. With his help and that of some old friends, the task is clear: spend the summer building the hotel back up to its former glory or lose it for good.
In an endless summer, Amy soon realises that sometimes in order to save your future, you have to face your past, even if it’s in the form of a smug, gorgeous Onslow boy.

Warning: sexual references, and occasional coarse language.

    I want live inside C.J. Duggan¿s imagination

After spending the last few years in the city, Amy’s excited to go back home — to the hotel her family has owned for generations, to the friends she left behind, to the sleepy town of Onslow where life was always better. But nothing’s quite like she remembers.

The hotel is falling apart, literally, and the staff that kept it going have somehow dwindled to one lazy bartender who doesn’t bother opening the doors until after noon. Her best friend from before has gone and grown up, all long legs, bright smiles, and beautiful eyes that have heads turning. And the Onslow Boys who were always too old for her to hang with, always too cool and grown up for the awkward teen she once was… Well, they’ve only gotten hotter, and she’s no little girl anymore.

Amy loves her childhood home; it’s a part of her she can’t give up. With a lot of elbow grease and the help of the Onslow Boys, she works to restore it to its former glory — and falls in love along the way. Sean is older than her, having already built his own business and created his own path in life, but he’s every bit as fun and mischievous as he always was. He’s driving her crazy, and while she knows better than to fall for the guy that could have any woman he wants, she can’t help but think that maybe, with all his flirting and all her blushing, he wants her.

    The Verdict...
C.J. Duggan has done it again. An Endless Summer perfectly captures that incredible time when you’re no longer a child but not quite an independent adult, when having fun and dreaming of that perfect unattainable guy takes up every spare thought. I was convinced that after reading The Boys of Summer, there was no way I could love this book as much. But just a couple of chapters in, and I was already in Amy’s shoes, already falling for Sean, and thrilled to see the rest of the Onslow Boys coming home. I want to go back in time, move to Onslow, or maybe just pack up and live inside Duggan’s imagination. There’s something amazing there.

C.J. Duggan has done it again! She has once more transported me

C.J. Duggan has done it again! She has once more transported me to Onslow among the Onslow Boys, and I just want to dive into this book and live there forever. The ARC of An Endless Summer by C.J. Duggan was provided to me by the YA Bound for review. The opinions are my own.

So, I am kind of embarrassed that it took me THIS long to review

So, I am kind of embarrassed that it took me THIS long to review this book. See, I got this book as an ARC, before it was released even.  And I kind of stayed up until two in the morning and read it, and then emailed CJ as soon as I was done.  CJ laughed at me.  I loved it.  But that is beside the point.  I was a huge fan of the first book in the series, you can read my review of book #1 here if you are interested!

I was so excited to get back to Onslow! But I was cringing along with Amy.  Selling the Onslow Hotel? No way!

I seriously didn’t think I could love two characters more than I loved Tess and Toby from book #1… I was wrong.  I adored Sean and Amy. From the moment I started reading I was cheering for Sean and Amy.  And OH MY GOODNESS… I want to live in Onslow, in Sean’s house.  This book just stole my heart!

If I didn’t have kids, I would so be packing and moving. Cause living here would be so amazing! As it is, I keep threatening to moving in with CJ.  Last year she would send me pictures of her pool in the middle of our winter when I had snow on the ground.  To say we bounded was an understatement. But seriously, if you are looking for a fun, lighthearted romance, this is the one. I adore this series…

To say that I am impatiently waiting for book #3, cover revealed today, is such an understatement it is not even funny.  I can’t wait to finish this series, except then it will be done, and I will sadly miss Onslow.

The story: In the Boys of Summer,we read and fell in love with

    The story:

In the Boys of Summer,we read and fell in love with Tess and Toby's story. That was when Amy was fifteen. Now,four years later,a nineteen-year-old Amy is back in Onslow in order to take over the family business. That means,if there still was a business to run.But Amy doesn't give up.She wants to restore the Onslow hotel back to its previous glory. In order to accomplish that she will need Sean Murphy's help. But what starts as an innocent-an maybe a little flirting-collaboration will lead to well-buried feelings...

    The characters:

At the age of fifteen,Amy did a terrible mistake and would have almost drowned if it wasn't for Sean.Four years later, after attending boarding school as a punishment, she decides to spend her summer in her "refuge"which is none other than her hometown Onslow and her home, the Onslow hotel. Her parents agree to that plan thinking that it would be for her to work at the family business like she used to.But when she arrives at the hotel, the only thing she could think of is how is this building still standing? Her home and Onslow's historical landmark is official "dead".So she takes the initiative to make the Onslow hotel the most precious building in Onslow again.Throughout the book we clearly realize that Amy has grown up.She's smart, ambitious, determined and loyal to what she believes in.But most of these gifts disappear when she's at the same place as Sean Murphy. She saved Amy once in the lake. Can he save her again from losing her childhood home and her future in Onslow?

"All right,Captain Excitement, take me on this life-changing land expedition then."I climbed off the tabletop and brushed peeled paint flakes from my shorts and hands.
"Life-changing?I'm afraid I've oversold it to you.The last thing I want is for you to be disappointed."
I smiled sweetly as I sidestepped towards the car."I bet that's what you say to all the girls."
Sean paused. His brows creased in a mixture of horror and confusion, the corner of his mouth curving incredulously as he began to follow after me.
    "What did you just say?"
I just giggled and sped up,my head darting backwards to see where he was.As soon as the words had tumbled out I knew it meant trouble;I had read it all over his face. When I ignored the question it just dug me into a deeper hole.
"Right! That's it!" he said, and ran after me.
    I screamed.

Skilled tradesman,Sean Murphy left Onslow a few years ago, made a name for himself and now he's back. He wants to help Amy with the Onslow hotel because that was his and his friends' summer hideout.Cold beer, good music and pool tables. That's all these boys-the Onslow Boys-needed for their summer. So he feels obligated to help her.But fate has other plans because Sean is a pretty attractive guy and Amy challenges him all the time, thing that he finds so tempting!

The rest of the gang was back for the summer as well..Tess and Toby,Chris,Adam,Ellie,Ringer and Stan.I hope That One Summer-Book 3 in the Summer series will be about the rest of the guys..We have to read their stories as well! :)

    Verdict:

Fresh, funny, delightful and full of emotions An Endless Summer is the perfect summer read. C.J. Duggan did a great with The Boys of Summer. Now she's back with a story that will keep you up on a summery night.
