This album marks Belafonte's first release in 8 years. It features many of the songs that made him famous (Day-O, Jamaica Farewell, etc), some new stuff (two brilliant songs by Richard Bona), but most of the songs are new arrangments of old material. The new versions of Kwela, and Paradise in Gazankulu are great, and by themselves, worth the price of the entire cd. Belafontes voice is powerfull as always, though not as smooth as it was in his early years. The band and the backup vocals are very good, and did I mention Richard Bona. Buy if you enjoy good music. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
