Samaria Jacobs is a deceitful, yet captivating diva who will do anything to win the heart of her married lover. Will she get her man or destroy herself and everyone else in the process?
Samaria has her sights set on Gregory Preston. A successful surgeon, he has just the bankroll she needs to keep her in the lifestyle that her credit card debt has helped her grow accustomed to. He's married, but Samaria would never let a little thing like that get in her way.

Samaria joins New Mercies Christian Church to get close to Gregory's wife. If she gets to know Angelina Preston, she can become like her in more than just looks, and really work her way into Greg's heart.

Angelina's life is filled with a successful career and busy ministry work, but something's just not right with her marriage. Late nights, early meetings, lipstick- and perfume-stained shirts have her suspicious that Greg is doing a little more operating than she'd like. But does she have the strength to confront the only man she's ever loved and risk losing him to the other woman?

Just when Samaria thinks she's got it all figured out, she finds herself drawn to Angelina's kindness. Will she be able to carry out her plan after she finds herself yearning for the one thing she's never had. . .the friendship of a woman?

An Inconvenient Friend by Rhonda McKnight takes stealing a man to a whole new level. McKnight's sophomore novel takes us on a journey into the lives of Samaria Jacobs and Angela Preston, both characters in her first novel, Secrets and Lies. It tells the story of how a man stealing hustler befriends an unsuspecting God fearing woman and almost succeeds at taking her man. As I read the book, it became clear to me that this was much more than just a story. As a married woman, it confirmed the fact that we not only have to keep it fresh, ladies, we also have to ensure that its not mechanical, if you know what I mean. In addition, we need to be mindful of who we befriend. Without preaching a sermon, or teaching a lesson, McKnight shows us that even people with the wrong intention can be converted when righteous believers live holy lives before them. Kudos to McKnight for creating such complex characters, a riveting back story, and several strong messages that will make us "church-going folk" take a deeper look at our walk.

I love books and will find myself reading a good one over the period of one day. This book was not an exception! An Inconvenient Friend takes you to the unthinkable in the tale of a mistress befriending an unexpected wife at bible study, in order to take her husband. This Christian fiction book has the same thrill and excitement found in secular literature without the grit and overused explicitives that often overshadow a good read for me. I would defintely recommend this tale of betrayal for any fan of Christian or secular literature. This book is worth sharing!

I am at a loss at how best to compliment a truly engaging story. I thought it quite interesting that Ms. McKnight chose not to keep the drama limited to members of the church; instead, she introduced a character who was obviously still leading their life of the flesh and dared to enter the church setting for unscrupulous personal gains. After several christian fiction disappointments, I can enthusiastically say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Keep up the good work Ms. McKnight.
