JD is one of twenty competitors, participating in a one year survival challenge. The competitors are allowed to settle wherever they choose, along thirty-five miles of coastline. In addition, there is a twelve mile-long island, located four to five miles off the coast, they may access called, Panther Island. The problem all the competitors face - the interior of the Panther Island is inaccessible due to 100' cliffs that encircle it. These cliffs leave no shoreline, except one, very narrow eight mile beach. And, if the terrain isn't harsh enough, the island has a very high concentration of alpha predators.
As a competitor, JD has few survival skills and is not expected to last very long. And, as an introvert by nature, JD never has developed social skills. He has avoided others and learned to work alone.
JD has allowed himself six weeks, to see how much he can accomplish on his own. After that, one other competitor will join him. Being a recluse puts JD in a potentially difficult position. If he cannot live in close proximity with others, there will be no recourse for him as his outdated code of ethics would not allow him to tell that person to leave. For JD, the challenges are almost insurmountable. But as with his life in general, he knows that seemingly insurmountable obstacles, are overcome...one step at a time.
Despite his social issues, JD has one trait that just might make the make the difference. He thoroughly prepares for everything. After extensive research of the area where the challenge will take place, JD made an incredible discovery - Panther Island has secrets, and he knows what some are!
Now, JD must use all of his abilities, and facts he has learned to defeat the island. If he can gain access to the interior of Panther Island, he knows that he will easily be able to complete the challenge and in a way no one expects. He knows that there is a way to the interior. And, much more then danger awaits him!
