Overview

When she learns that her uncle Ike left her a ranch in his will, Blaire Mackenzie travels to Arizona, only to find, to her horror, that the ranch is populated by ostriches, not cows. And, despite her determination to make a good impression on the staff, Blaire can't seem to do anything right. From falling on her face to having her hair pulled by the ostriches, she gives everyone reason to laugh. Ranch manager Burke Dunham finds himself laughing with Blaire one minute and fuming at her the next. He struggles with anger whenever Blaire mentions selling the ranch and moving back to the city. Burke knows how much effort Ike put into building his dream--and wonders why any man would trust that work to a woman. In spite of her rough start, Blaire begins to enjoy the peace and quiet of the desert, and Burke finds himself learning to trust her. Can Blaire find contentment on an ostrich ranch? Can she put a bad relationship behind her and accept her growing love for Burke? Will Burke overcome his past and give his pain to God?

"Run!" Zured, Dopaz, and Moba were running away from the Savage Jaguars in the forest of Nilo. They had traveled a long way from Cabaro's kingdom. Since Zured's brother Kerov died from a claw strike in the chest from Cabaro the Lion while they were fighting him, Zured was depressed and didn't talk much. Cabaro had died too, but Moba and Dopaz reacted happily to it. Zured wasn't so sure. "I know about these Jaguars! They're sent from Cabaro to any enemy of his!" Moba gasped. "Then Cabaro must be still alive!" Dopaz widened his eyes while running through the forest. They were heading toward Eura, the country of the north. Would that place be safe? With a growl, one of the Savage Jaguars charged Dopaz. Dopaz unsheathed his sword and killed the attacking Jaguar. Then about three or four more dragons piled on top of him. Five piled on top of Zured. Based on their strength, their speed was...fast! One jaguar bit him on the wing and one on the leg. Zured kicked the one going for his leg aside but the Jaguar was cunning and smart. It went charging at Zured's face and then everything went black. Zured woke up to feel the pain and stings of cuts. He was in a wooden cage that hung from a tree. "Wakee, Wakee, ZURED!" Zured woke up to see someone he knew...Molok. Right next to the cage was...no, Cabaro the Lion. He was scarred across the noise and eyes and his mane was ruffled. He had also a scar across his back. "Unfortunately, Moba and Dopaz," Molok said with a growl,"escaped." Zured sighed with relief. "You're not going to be so happy soon," Molok smirked at him. "How'd you come back? Like, both of you!" Zured pointed out. Cabaro the Lion scowled at him. "Come here, Zerif! Zured, I bet this'll be your best enemy yet," Molok let out a smug smile. Zured realized he was in the same place where Cabaro's attack had taken place. Behind the bushes, Zerif stepped out with an animal he knew...Gerathon the Snake.
