Review – An Unlucky Moon by Carrie Ann Ryan
This novel is the third in the Dante’s Circle series, and is the story of Becca, one of seven lightning struck women, and Hunter, a werewolf. Becca has been through her share of trouble. Growing up in a troubled home with little love, no father figure and getting kicked out at seventeen. Then, she struggled through life, working at Dante’s circle, living above it, and going to college, trying to figure out where her life would take her. After being struck by lightning along with her six best friends, she has watched two of them, Lily and Jenna find their true halves and come into their powers and supernatural selves.
Becca, however, has found her true half, but he has left her. Hunter, a werewolf rescued from Hell by Jenna’s true halves Ambrose, a warrior angel, and Balin, a demon, has returned to his pack to settle things and find out who sent him to Hell. Becca is alone and she is growing weak from the lack of bonding with her true half. She begins to wonder if Hunter will return at all.
Hunter, saved from Hell, wants desperately to return to mate with his true half, Becca, but things within the pack continue to prevent him from doing so. The council conspires against the Alpha, and against Hunter as well. With so much against him, he fears bringing Becca into the pack.
Can Becca wait for Hunter, or will she give up and find someone new? Will Hunter be able to overcome those that conspire against him and bond with his true half? What are Becca’s powers? What will she become? And will it help the pack if she and Hunter mate and bond? Who is conspiring against Hunter, and are they after Becca, too? Will both of them be able to put the past behind them and make a new life together?
I had a very hard time putting this book down, in fact, I finished it in two evenings! A wonderful story of love and struggle. I highly recommend it. The characters are well written, and the plot flows well. A great paranormal read!

This is partial review that I will be sharing on my blog, In The Pages of a Good Book on Oct 11, 2013 during the tour.
This was an overall great addition to the series, one that had me messaging Carrie and asking her when the next book will be out cause I really want to see what is next cause of the little “bread crumbs” she left in this story for the next one… Not something I normally see in most of Carrie Ann’s books.
I am going to end my review by saying Carrie must have kissed the “Blarney Stone”… (There is more than one meaning to kissing the Blarney stone… It is known to bestow luck as well as eloquence to the one who kisses it…That is what my parents told me when they visit Ireland this past summer…)

I am soooo addicted to this series. Not only is each woman very different from each other making each book new and different, but the super hottie love interests are just as varied. I look forward to each new release from this series well before it is even written. This one was especially high on my wish list because I am a super shifter addict and fell in love with Hunter when he was first introduced to this wonderful world Carrie Ann has created.
Carrie Ann did not let me down. Not only is the love story between Hunter and Becca hot, romantic, fun, and filled with twists and turns as he takes back his place in the pack after being away from the human realm for so long, but we also get to see Becca come into her own. I always had a soft spot for her so watching her become the woman she was meant to be made me super happy. My favorite part of this book, however, had nothing to do with either of them and 100% to do with Dante. We got to learn so much more about my dragon shifter book boyfriend and as hard as it is to believe, I like him more then before.
You do not need to have read previous books in this series to understand and enjoy this one, but I know I enjoyed this one even more because I have been following the lives of these women through multiple books.

The third book in the Dante’s Circle series lives up to its predecessors and continues to be a wild adventure with intrigue, romance, wolf shifters and leprechauns.
Hunter the beta for the local wolf pack escaped from hell to find his pack in shambles. Becca is one of the women struck by lightning and happens to be klutzy. When the two meet the chemistry is instant, but with everything going on can they accept what fate has in store for them. The portrayal of the emotions as Becca goes through her own personal transformation is well written and inspiring.
The intrigue and action in this book continues to build throughout as members of the wolf pack council try to take over and of course Hunter is in their way. Then Becca’s paranormal genes are triggered and she becomes a leprechaun and they find they have even more to worry about. The story is a fast paced wild adventure that flows smoothly from beginning to end.
With these strong characters and the vivid portrayal of this supernatural world, the reader is completely engaged in the drama as they sit on the edge of their seat waiting to see what happens next. More characters are introduced and of course the author intrigues the reader with peaks at our favorites’ lives, leaving us wanting to know more. I will be waiting impatiently for next chapter in this series.

An Unlucky Moon “Dante’s Circle”
This is Hunter’s and Becca’s story and I have to say it’s one of my favorites so far. I fell in Love with Hunter when he was introduced in Her Warriors Three Wishes. There was just something about the big brute that wrapped him around my heart. And when he came to Becca’s rescue and saved her life I fell in love with him even more. I was so glad that these two were True Mates.
After saving Becca Hunter returned to the Nocturne Pack to resume his duties as the Beta and try to fix what had been happening the 4 years he was gone. He knew Becca was his true mate but he had to walk away from her in order to keep her safe and clean things up before he brought her to his home. He hadn’t planned on being away for a month but things weren’t that simple. He was challenged for the position of Beta and won. It was declared he needed a mate and was offered up one and he refused stating he already found his true mate.
Hunter finally made it back to Dante’s Circle to claim his mate, but he didn’t know how. This was so sweet when he turned to Balin and asked for his and his mates help. This was an awe moment.
As the story unfolds and he’s courting Becca, she ends up being kidnapped, this was really a gut wrenching scene that tore me apart. I’ve notice lately Carrie Ann has a thing about putting in the unexpected. When Hunter is attacked outright and challenged again for Beta during the altercation he catches a whiff of something familiar but pushes it aside, until he realizes she’s in trouble.
An Unlucky Moon is definitely not short on the action. And Becca holds her own. At one scene I actually started to fist pump air. You see she gets kidnapped again and she so disposes of the jerk. I loved this scene.
You are introduced to another character Jase and I don’t want to give anything away but I suspect we’ll see another triade. YES!!!! You also find out how, who and why Hunter woke up in hell. Who killed his brother Samuel, what Becca turns into (so cool) and a hint at who are Nadia’s Mates. Yes I said Mates. Can’t wait for that book. I’m also seeing a hint of something with maybe Liam and Alec.

NUMBER OF STARS: 4 1/2
I have been patiently waiting for Hunter’s book since we met him in Her Warriors’ Three Wishes (bk 2). Okay not so patiently. I loved Hunter’s character even when he was trapped in hell. He was all gruff, stubborn and totally alpha. So I was extremely happy when I got an early copy of An Unlucky Moon.
Hunter & Becca know what they are to each other. But Hunter has things he needs to straighten out before he can claim Becca as his mate. Now that Hunter is ready to be mated, Becca has put the brakes on their relationship. Not to stop it but to slow down and learn more about each other. When Becca is kidnapped and left for dead Hunter is not taking it slow any more, he is determined to complete their bond. Lucky for him Becca is finally on the same page. Hunter and Becca are going to need to be on the same page. They are about to be tested like nothing before. They have enemies coming from all sides.
If you have read the first two books in the Dante’s Circle series you will know a little about Hunter & Becca’s history. But while I think you should start with book one Dust of My Wings, I think An Unlucky Moon can be read as stand alone. Now that I have had my Hunter fix I really really really need some Dragon love. Bring on Dante!!!
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.
