A "normal" American family decides that normal just isn't cutting it anymore. They start doing crazy things like visiting 52 zoos in 52 weeks, taking a 5-week trip to Cambodia, quitting school, and going down this crazy path called unschooling. Meet the Author

Marla Taviano is the author of From Blushing Bride to Wedded Wife (2006), Is That All He Thinks About? (2007), Changing Your World One Diaper at a Time (2008), Expecting (2009), The Husbands Guide to Getting Lucky (2011), Once Upon the Internet (2012), The Wife Life (2013), We Dream of Cambodia (2014), and An Unschooling Manifesto (2014).

Her biggest passion is loving the poor, seeking justice, and sharing the hope of the gospelin her city and around the globe. Three years ago, she and her husband and their three daughters spent five weeks in Cambodia, and it rocked their world. The subsequent three years were the hardest of their lives, but God is good. And now theyve made plans to move to Cambodia for good in January 2015. Woohoo!

In her former life, Marla was a professional speaker on topics like sex and parenting, but now she mostly advocates for the poor and dreams about traveling the globe to share Gods love with others. I still write books, but mostly to support my missions habit, she says with a grin.

Marla and her husband, Gabe, live in a small-but-fun apartment with their awesome, unschooled daughtersOlivia (13), Ava (12), and Nina (8) and a few hundred Somali & Nepali refugee neighbor-friends (well, they have their own apartments).

Once upon a time, the five of them went to 52 Zoos in 52 Weeks, but thats a whole nother story.
