Editorial Reviews

Criticas
Gr 4-6-Lowry again creates hilarious scenarios from the everyday life experiences of Anastasia Krupnik, a vivacious 13-year-old who has a knack for getting into trouble. This time Anastasia answers a personal ad from a local newspaper and starts corresponding with a 28-year-old man. She uses the nickname Balita to sign her letters and explains to her mother that she is working on a school project and will be receiving correspondence bearing that name. When the man she is writing to asks for a picture, she sends him one of her mother, thinking that they will never meet. He lives in New York, and her mother lives in Boston. Little does Anastasia know that their paths will cross and chaos will ensue when they wind up in the same wedding party. As always, Anastasia manages to survive her escapades and is ready for the next adventure. Bustelo's translation manages to keep the humor that Lowry so expertly delivers. The b&w illustrations add to the enjoyment. This book is recommended for all libraries and bookstores.
