The act itself of coloring really helps the "memorization" process. It also helps to physically trace locations, size, origin, etc. And once the coloring is done, the drawings become excellent study aids.

Twenty-five years ago, I took undergrad anatomy, I was pre-med so I was super-diligent so I followed everything to the letter, but I found the Anatomy Coloring book was a new way to study--using other areas of my brain to study, (as well as easier )than rote memorization, much to my delight! The best results are to be had by READING the text on the page, and then organizing the colors you want to use before coloring.Make sure you READ the text! Then review..you may even want to color-code all your notes when studying for the final--it really helps! A few years later, I took a grad-level anatomy class, and while they didn't require the coloring book I thought for a small investment, I could review/refresh my anatomy skills. It worked like a charm to the degree a couple of my classmates went out at my suggestion and picked it up, with great results. I never made it to med school--I made the choice of being a wife and mom and my oldest is now a pre med honors student and I insisted on the Anatomy Coloring Book--in fact, I bought one for each of us and a couple sets of terrific pens--he was hesitant til his father told him that I helped him ace anatomy by coloring with him and now, once a week, my 20 year old and I sit down to color, exchanging anatomy lab stories, tricks for memorization, and overall what's up. I will note that there are several OTHER copycat "color books" out there but they are not as helpful--I looked at them, but can't recommend them. My son is doing great in anatomy now this semester There is also a Physiology coloring book by the same author(Wynn Kapit) that I am looking forward to with my son

I bought the first edition when I took a sports medicine class in high school. The text continued to be a great reference and review for me throughout my college studies, career as an exercise physiologist, when I went back to school for nursing and now as a practicing nurse. It is a wonderful teaching tool for my patients as well. One of the best investments I've ever made.

I purchased this book to help me get through a summer session Anatomy class. We have had 3 tests so far and thanks to this book, I managed an A on every test. It is easy to follow and allows you to color and learn exactly what the teacher wants....in an easy manner. I would recommend this to any student who is concerned with their grades. As a nurse to be, I needed a high grade in Anatomy to get accepted in the nursing program. Now, I am confident that I will end the course with an A.

My mother bought this book when she was studying to be a massage therapist, and then I also bought it as a study tool while I was in high school anatomy class. It was so helpful to have color pictures with color names, full paragraph descriptions, and review guides.
