Overview

Imagine that you’ve inherited a house of spirits. Now imagine that the house wants you dead.

For Jon and Carlie Summers, the nightmare begins when they move into an inherited home in rural Iowa. Leaving behind their busy lives in Chicago, Jon and Carlie are dragged into a horrifying spiral of violent dreams, illnesses, and possessions. Uncovering a vast evil hidden for decades in crates of buried journals, Jon and Carlie are forced to relive the sinister history of the house and its legacy of abuse, denial, and obsession.

Anatomy of a Haunting is a terrifying true story about one house and its inhabitants who have been pushed to the brink of insanity and death. Through interviews and exhaustive research into the 150-year-old McPherson house, author Lee Strong delves into the history of the haunting and paints a nightmarish picture of one couple’s descent into supernatural madness.

Praise:
"Light a white candle before reading this book—and after you've finished. Anatomy of a Haunting is truly terrifying."
—Annie Wilder, author of House of Spirits and Whispers and Trucker Ghost Stories

I should have listened to reviews I found from another site.  There are so many holes in this story, it is unbelievable. It's not hard to find out what / where the original house/family this story originates from if you do just a little research on the internet.  At best this story is highly fictionalized.  Even if you did not know it's origins, it is not hard to figure that out.  For example, a death that transpires in the book is told from a 1st person perspective, as if the author knows what happened with all of the supernatural details. This person was found dead, and did not have the chance to convey these details. That is just one example.  There may be some details in this book that are true, but unfortunately  the story is ruined by the fictionalized writing.

    On the edge!!

This book kept me on the edge to the end. Well written, well laid out that the flow was natural and no distractions from lack of editing.
The young couple lost so much by moving into this haunted home. The young woman lost more than she bargained for. They were warned away but never heeded the warnings and they regret it later!
This book is not just a scary book about a haunted house, its a love story, a murder mystery and a thrill ride. I recommend!
