Ancient Elk Hunt: An up North Adventureby G.M. Moore
City kid Corbett (Griffy) Griffith III is back in Wisconsin, ready to leave his family troubles behind. Although divorce and two busy parents have left the eleven-year-old feeling invisible and alone at home in Chicago, Corbett is never really alone when he visits Whispering Pines Lodge thanks to Uncle Dell and his best friend, Pike, who pulls him into one mischievous adventure after another.
Back for a second summer's visit to Whispering Pines Lodge, he and Pike set off on their first adventure the very first day he's there. They go kayaking and exploring, and they help Uncle Dell around the lodge, cleaning up after messy guests. They even manage to get themselves caught in a massive storm!
When Griffy and Pike help a neighbor clean up after the storm, they uncover ancient artifacts hidden by the waters of Lost Land Lake. As they research the artifacts, they find themselves in a battle for the truth against a cunning, desperate archeologist. The rewards of this prehistoric discovery belong to a new friend, and Griffy is determined to help save his business no matter what. The boys won't abandon a friend. No way.
It's do or die now. Can they protect their find?
Meet the Author
G. M. Moore is a former newspaper writer, editor and columnist. She currently works as a magazine art director and writes fiction as a hobby. The author grew up battling game fish and exploring the lakes of northern Wisconsin, and uses that state's enchanting wilderness as her muse. During the summer months, you can still find the Chicago-area author "up north" and out on the lake.
Moore is also the author of "Ghosts of Manitowish Waters," an action/adventure romance for young adult readers.
Moore was inspired to write her first book, "Muskie Attack," by her then 9-year-old nephew who, in a literary world filled with fantasy, was struggling to find books that appealed to his outdoor interests and adventurous spirit.
When not writing, Moore can be found walking her dog, Piper, or feeding the fish, birds and flying squirrels in her Snow White-like backyard.
