Overview

A scathing exposé of the judges and lawyers who put criminals' rights ahead of victims' rights

When Wendy Murphy was a young prosecutor, she learned that the deck is stacked in favor of criminal defendants. Between their arrest and (potential) conviction, murderers, rapists, and drug dealers get more than a fair shake—they get an unfair advantage, often at the expense of their victims.

In many states, for instance, defendants can subpoena a victim's private medical and counseling files, without any justification. They can threaten victims with brutal cross-examinations if they dare to testify. They can put on "dog and pony show" defenses that have nothing to do with the truth—and even lie under oath with virtually no risk of being prosecuted for perjury.

These kinds of injustices make Murphy fighting mad. She's made it her mission to help the victims who get the least protection from our twisted legal system. And in her first book, she guides readers through one horror story after another about judges and lawyers who bend over backward to let the worst offenders go free.

You'll meet judges who unapologetically declare that they care more about their liberal ideology than about the pain and suffering of abuse victims. Judges who let child molesters walk free because they're "too frail" to go to prison. Defense attorneys who take big money from wealthy child molesters, then twist the Bill of Rights beyond recognition. And even a few prosecutors who go easy on criminals for their own selfish reasons.

Murphy's true stories will shock you, but they will also inspire you to join the fight for a more rational system. This is an important book that is sure to infuriate America's legal establishment.

Victims Rights Attorney Speaks the Truth!!

This was a great book! Wendy Murphy tells it like it is. She explains the problems in our legal system today that is geared at protecting the criminal not the victim. She sites cases that involve ruthless defense lawyers and ineffective judges. She has fought for changes in laws to protect victims and urges everyone to crusade for more changes in the legal system. She uncovers in suprising detail organizations that one would think would protect the victim but often times benefits the criminals. I highly recommend this book!!

    AMAZINGLY ACCURATE

Wendy Murphy's book is searingly accurate. Our legal system needs to be fixed and we need to protect victims rather than re-victimize them. Wendy Murphy is a fearless advocate who has reached out to thousands of victims and helped them through the legal system. Wendy's call for change is much needed in our country. As a legal analyst for CNN, MSNBC, and ABC she predicted correctly that O.J. Simpson would again commit crime. When the media was in a frenzy about John Mark Carr she was the only one saying he would not be brought to trial. It's time to improve our legal system. Ms. Murphy's clarion call should cause all of us to take notice and do something to help victims of crimes. As Wendy Murphy says, 'Instead of punishing victims, we should be giving them presents,' for having the courage to come forward. It's time we stop vilifying victims.

Murphy is a powerful advocate- I would know

'She is someone who seems to care more about stirring controversy and holding to her views than the victims she supposedly seeks to serve.' As a former client of Ms. Murphy, I can assure you, nothing is further from the truth. She is one of the most compassionate people I have ever met, and she was there for me 'in so many ways' during the worst times of my life. I wouldn't be the person I am today without her. I admit, I have not yet read the book (just ordered it.) However, if she is half as persuasive and articulate in print as she is in person, I know I won't be able to put it down.

    STANDING FOR THE VICTIMS

'and justice for some' is a book that really speaks for the victims and not the criminal.the arthur wendy murphy shows countless documented cases were those whoose only goal is to hurt members of society are turned loose and threaten and hurt members of society again and again. I was very amazed at the chapter on child porn this dynamic prosecuter proves with legal documents that it is not only very harmful but the ones who are defending the predators are sometimes guility of the crime themselfs. this book is really amazing they are all true stories.great gift idea for family and friends.

Finally a book that speaks out for victims rights!

So often we have books written by people who talk about how our justice system tramples on the rights of defendants and how innocent people are convicted but we seldom hear about injustices that let criminals go free and how the rights of crime victims get trampled on to protect the criminal -- But now we are thanks to Wendy Murphy! The outspoken, intelligent attorney and TV commentator brings her no hold bars style in this expose of liberal defense lawyers and judges who protect criminal rights and sneer at victims rights!

    Win at any cost

We have the best legal system of any country. She tells of cases that involve ruthless defense lawyers and ineffective judges. But she fails to write about RUTHLESS PROSECUTORS out to win at any cost. If she would have had it HER way, along with Nancy Grace's way the Duke students would be in prison right now. Neither of these prosecutors had any apology to give. Both are one-sided - out to win at any cost. Thank God for defense attorneys in this country...the best there is.

A dishonest, inaccurate account of the criminal justice system

Wendy Murphy is, well, all about Wendy Murphy. She has made a career of being a one-sided pundit in favor of views that she holds without modification even when proven to be wrong. Just look at her commentary regarding the Duke students, where she went on the air and repeatedly said they were rapists, notwithstanding obvious problems in the case. Her book is a dishonest account and an oversimplification of the complex problems facing the criminal justice system. She is someone who seems to care more about stirring controversy and holding to her views than the victims she supposedly seeks to serve. This book is rubbish and she should be ashamed for attacking so many people who participate in the system. Her apparent failure to understand the importance of due process and fairness under our Constitution is rather extraordinary.
