Meet the Author

André Bazin (1918-58) was one of the most influential film critics and theorists of the Twentieth Century. A co-founder of Cahiers du cinéma, he is widely considered to be the chief instigator of auteur theory.

Bert Cardullo is Professor of Media and Communication at the Izmir University of Economics in Turkey. His books include Bazin at Work, Federico Fellini: Interviews, Jean Renoir: Interviews, and Vittorio De Sica: Director, Actor, Screenwriter.
