Children's Literature - Mary Sue PreissnerLerner has embarked on a rampant publication program of biographies of major sports figures which cull information primarily from newspapers and magazines. While the subjects are in demand by middle graders, some of these books can be quite dry for someone not fascinated by sports statistics. Each book also highlights sports terms and further explains them in a glossary. Of Lerner's many recent biographies, Agassi's story is one of the more enjoyable, undoubtedly due to his highly publicized professional and private life. While the book chronicles well Agassi's triumphs and tribulations both on and off the court, it's already dated itself with its treatment of Brooke Shields, herein described as a "friendship." Glossary, index.
