Overview

Andromeda Reynolds is being hunted. After witnessing her mother's violent death at the hands of a pack of wolf shifters, Andie has devoted her life to protecting her community of cougar shifters from a similar fate. But now, a greater threat lies within her own pack, and she must run. If she stays, Kyle Carstairs will force their mating, seeking the added political power their union would provide.

Andie would rather chew off her own foot than end up with Kyle. Though, knowing him, she won't live long either way. Andie's only hope of survival is to mate Jaxon Keller, the Alpha of the Keller Dare with which she is seeking asylum. But before she can get to him, Andie must first go through A.J., one of the Alpha's Protectors. What Andie doesn't realize is that A.J. has secrets of his own. All Andie knows is that the incredibly frustrating shifter insists on challenging her story, her skills, her trust... and her heart.

I liked this book because the characters are real and strong. Also, they don't beat around the bush with a lot of angst over if they love or not! Plot moves quickly & I found it to be entertaining. Worth reading.

Title: Andromeda's Fall - Shadowcat Nation 1 Author: Abigail Owen Published: 12-10-14 Publisher: The Wild Rose Press Pages: 260 Genre: Paranormal Romance Sub Genre: Shifters; Suspense; Werecats; Werewolves; Fantasy; ISBN: 9781628306613 ASIN: B00PM6T2YW Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley My Rating: 5 Stars . Andromeda Reynolds has managed to escape Kyle's attempt to force a mating with her. She knows the next time she may not be so successful and Kyle Carstairs's the Alpha's son, wants to use her to gain political power and position. Her only hope is to leave her Dare and go to the Keller Dare and seek asylum there with the Alpha, Jaxon Keller. If she can convince him to be her mate she will be safe, but A. J., the Alpha's protector is in her way. He challenges her story even as he is drawn to the stunning cougar shifter. Soon Andromeda is fighting her own attraction for A. J. who is keeping secrets of his own such as being the Alpha Jaxon that Andromeda came in search of. Being untrusting by their cat nature Jaxon questions everything about Andie, but love can blossom in the most unlikely of places. Will Jaxon be willing to place his Dare in danger to keep Andie safe? Can love overcome suspicion? Beautifully written and filled with action, suspense and drama. The descriptive writing takes you into the story so that you feel you are with the characters and living the story with them. Andromeda and Jaxon are both strong characters that often clash. As Alpha Jaxon is naturally a dominant male, but has a softer side as well, especially when it comes to Andie. She on the other hand has leaned to depend on herself and trust no one. Together they make a powerful pair if they are willing to see beyond the surface to the person hidden beneath. A great start to a new series and I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Sarai's Fortune soon. My rating is 5 out of 5 stars.

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. 'Andromeda's Fall' by Abigail Owen is book one in the "Shadowcat Nation" series. This is the story of Andromeda Reynolds and " A.J". Andie is running from a alpha male who wants to mate with her for more power. Andie goes to the compound where AJ catches her 'breaking' into his compound. There he agrees to let her see his 'alpha' but she has to past some test first. Andie knows that their alpha is possible the only one that can keep the male alpha that is hunting her down from her though marriage and mating. But the more Andie does these test and gets to know AJ she know he is hiding something. I did enjoyed this book and can't wait for book two to read about the next couple. *sigh* This is another one that has languished on my tbr mountain for a while.  A long while.  Ever since the author self-published it a year ago February.   In December it was released again by Wild Rose Press.  I am so excited for this relatively new author.  I have enjoyed all of her stories so far.  This is her second series.  I am finding it just as wonderful and exciting as I found the Svatura series.   What I especially enjoy about this author is the fact that her wolf shifters aren’t automatically the good guys as is often the case in other stories.  They are often the bullies and/or just plain evil.  Don’t get me wrong, she has good wolves too, but, they are hard to find.  The stars of her books are mostly the other shifters.  In this case, cougars.  Those lovely, sleek, wily, mountain cats that aren’t naturally social.  They have had to band together to survive the pack animals hunting them to extinction.   Not all the cougars are good guys either.  Some aren’t adapting well to all this socialization.  They have gotten a bit full of themselves.  I cannot be sure, but I suspect this aspect of things may have been gone into in more detail in Hannah’s Fate found in the Here, Kitty Kitty anthology.  I haven’t read that one yet, but it too is on my tbr list. *sigh* However, I felt enough background was provided here, that I was okay with not having read it yet.  But don’t doubt that I will be going back to read it, if for no other reason than that I love the way this author tells a story.   Okay, Andromeda’s Fall.  Andromeda is a cougar on the run.  She has no desire to have an unwanted mating forced on her.  She makes her way to the rival Keller Dare.   I found it interesting that the different cougar groups were called Dares.  A term derived from the Iroquois Indian, “awa dare” meaning “through the light.”  There were many Iroquois based terms used.  *shrugs* Just something I found fascinating.   As Andromeda sneaks into the Keller compound she is caught by A.J. aka Jaxon Keller.  I have established how unsocial cougars tend to be, so you can imagine that climbing in a window where she didn’t belong wasn’t necessarily a good thing to get caught doing.  Trust doesn’t come easily to a cougar.  A lot of testing and “getting to know you” is needed.  Both Andie and A.J. kept secrets.  It is not only in their nature, but that trust thing.  Causes some issues as they fall in love. The characters were developed as needed.  We were given enough to make them interesting as they got to know each other.  The revealing of secrets and personality were part of the story.  I liked it.  The story itself was well paced and exciting.  A very nice mix of action and suspense, with a little romance thrown in for spice.  It kept me engaged and reading well into the night.   As with many urban fantasy or paranormal series, Andromeda’s Fall was a fairly complete story in that the conflict(s) between the featured couple was resolved, but there were a few threads left dangling.  There is not a cliffhanger here, but a rather nice set up for the next book – which I can’t wait to read.  It will feature a polar bear shifter.   You lovers of the urban fantasy and/or paranormal stories, you really need to find this author.  She writes an amazing story.  She made my must buy list after I read her first book, Blue Violet.  I enjoyed it that much and yes, I have become a fan.  I must say, she is only getting better as she polishes her craft and tightens up the stories.  I don’t think you will want to miss out on reading Andromeda’s Fall.  I couldn’t put it down, once I got to it, and cannot wait until the next book comes out next month.  *sigh* I have to wait an entire month!  Bummer. Although I bought a copy of this book, I was also recently provided a copy in exchange for an honest review.

As a huge fan of Abigail Owen's Svatura series of books I was excited to receive my copy of Andromeda's Fall so I could start reading. Andie arrives at the Keller dare, injured following her fight with Kyle Carstairs after he attempts to force her to mate with him. The reader learns that Andie is proud, independent and resilient. She seeks protection from the Alpha, Jaxon Keller, but meets 'AJ' who claims she must undergo certain trials before being considered worthy to join their dare. As Andie is a strong female, in both her forms, she presents a challenge to Jaxon Keller, who finds her both sexually arousing and intellectually stimulating. Aside from sparring physically, the two both share a dry sense of humor, however as Abigail establishes the plot, the relationship between Andi and Jaxon is centered around their mating and protection of their dare. Abigail Owen's fast-paced and descriptive storytelling, particularly during the battle scenes, mean that Andromeda's Fall is an easy book to become absorbed in. In Andromeda's Fall Abigail Owen introduces the very interesting idea of personal choice versus fate and I look forward to seeing how this affects Zac in the next installment of The Shadowcat Nation.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I fell in love with this book from the very beginning. This is the first book I have read by Abigail Owens and it most certainly wont be the last! From the first chapter I was hooked. Andromeda's Fall had mystery, intrigue, betrayal, romance, a sassy heroine who can kick butt and of course sexy shifters. Who can pass up on that? Andromeda Reynolds (aka Andie) was running from her cougar shifter dare. After a failed attempt by the alpha's son, Kyle Carstairs, to mate her by force she had no choice but to seek asylum with the Keller Dare. Hoping to convince the Keller alpha to mate and marry her she proceeds to show just how truly exceptional she is. A one woman army she just needs to get past AJ, one of the alpha's protectors to put her plan in motion. Only AJ has other ideas for the beautiful and daring cougar. What follows is an impressive battle of wills. There's a lot to say for stubbornness in this book. First I can't say enough how much I loved Andie. She was a one woman wrecking crew with the skills to back it up and a smart mouth to keep things interesting. It was great seeing a female main character who was not only strong of mind but body as well. It was refreshing that she could stand on her own. "Don't let my size fool you. I can pack a wallop when I want to. Even with a broken arm." AJ took me a little bit of time. Not because I didn't initially like his character but because there seemed to be so many secrets surrounding him. He was definitely an alpha male but he had a sweet side as well. The author painted a believable world that kept my attention from start to finish. Honestly when I got to the end of the book I was disappointed because I wanted more. I found the supporting characters just as enjoyable. They added depth to the story. I'm now anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.
