Was a great read kept me entertained in that circle of suspense. Only problem was all the profanity, I don't mind some cussing but you don't have to take the lord's name in vain to make a point. Other than that I enjoyed it.

One of the better novels I have read in a while. I saw all the mistakes as well, but don't worry about those. It seems crazy to me to be so anal that you can't enjoy a good book because a word is misused or misspelled. It was very good. I recommend it. I was also entertained by the author's use of numerous words that I was unfamiliar with. My nook has a "Look Up" feature that goes straight to a dictionary. I found myself having to use that several times, but enjoyed expanding my vocabulary. Very good book.

    Great read

This book was very enjoyable to read. The author did a great job assembling these characters. I highly recommend this book. You won't be sorry. It keeps you turning the pages. The main character is like a Philip Marlow or Sam Spade living in the 21st century. Am looking forward to maybe finding this character again in another of his books.

    A good read!

Good story and plot. Interesting juxtaposition of characters Slamm and Ace, different but the same. Only one really disturbing problem--inappropriate use of words (possibly misspellings). E.g. pg. 111, "...beauty took president over function." Meaning of course, "precedent.." Numerous instances of this kind were distracting.

A story within a story. The story follows the private detective around, but the main plot is the cop trying to kill the hit man. Different.

Bittersweet story of people finding their ways; sad/ultimately

happier ending than anticipated. Like Slamm + his corny dialog, + his care for "his" underdogs. D of C

    Pretty good

This book was not what I expected, but it was still good. Even though I like mystery, this book wasn't quite to my tastes.

It shows how Jack Slamm went from a broke PI to a profitable PI. The ending surprised me and the author left it open. I would read more of these kinds of books about Jack Slamm. However, I wouldn't pay for them myself. I really liked the fact that there wasn't any nasty sex scenes.

Surprisingly good considering the synopsis was vague.

The plot was wonderful. I felt for the hit man, a cold blooded killer with a surprising soft side. The plot seemed to me to be so possibly real. There were typos, yes. Ican acknowledge them, then read on. Did not distract at all. I would read more fromthis author, if this were to become a series.

    Okay

The author spends too much time using metaphors. There was not enough dialog.

    Very good

This was a very good book. Definately worth reading. There were several spelling/grammar errors but I don't think it ruined the book. I have read a lot of crime, detective and mystery books and I would read something else from this author.
