One of the better novels I have read in a while. I saw all the mistakes as well, but don't worry about those. It seems crazy to me to be so anal that you can't enjoy a good book because a word is misused or misspelled. It was very good. I recommend it. I was also entertained by the author's use of numerous words that I was unfamiliar with. My nook has a "Look Up" feature that goes straight to a dictionary. I found myself having to use that several times, but enjoyed expanding my vocabulary. Very good book.

Was a great read kept me entertained in that circle of suspense. Only problem was all the profanity, I don't mind some cussing but you don't have to take the lord's name in vain to make a point. Other than that I enjoyed it.

This book was very enjoyable to read. The author did a great job assembling these characters. I highly recommend this book. You won't be sorry. It keeps you turning the pages. The main character is like a Philip Marlow or Sam Spade living in the 21st century. Am looking forward to maybe finding this character again in another of his books.

Found no errors in the reedited verson. I ended up liking the hit man. That was different.

A story within a story. The story follows the private detective around, but the main plot is the cop trying to kill the hit man. Different.

The author wanted to be sure we understood it was "noir" as it was stated several times. Not a likeable main character..not any likeable characters except for the bad guy. He mght have had some morals.

Good story and plot. Interesting juxtaposition of characters Slamm and Ace, different but the same. Only one really disturbing problem--inappropriate use of words (possibly misspellings). E.g. pg. 111, "...beauty took president over function." Meaning of course, "precedent.." Numerous instances of this kind were distracting.

Loved the story Great characters, no profanity or vulgarity The author deserves a better editor- lots of spelling errors:(

Interesting look into how desperation corrupts. Yes, grammar and spelling errors, but after 25 years as a college professor you learn to read what the author intends rather than writes, so I just go with the flow and enjoy the story.

This is worth reading. The story moved steadily, and I have already recommended it to several friends. It had some (very few) editting errors(I blame spell-check), but I will continue checking for stories from this author! And you should, too. SRG DEAL

This one was a little over the top for me. A book for males more than females. AD

If you like fast paced, hard-boiled private eye stories, you'll love this. If you're looking for an intriguing mystery, skip it. It held my interest, but I can't say it was a particularly enjoyable read. The characters are all criminals in one form or another, most are amoral and not very likeable, and there's a LOT of killing. The plot is fairly predictable. The writing style is good and easy to read, though the big words the author throws in periodically seem inappropriate to this style and more just an unsuccessful effort to impress the reader. Occasional spelling and grammar errors are unfortunate but easy to skim over, unless you're extremely anal. I'm not a huge fan of using killing to resolve plot twists, nor am I a big fan of hard-core, hard-boiled p.i. stories, so I consider this good for a free read, but I wouldn't recommend paying money for it. Good story and easy to read despite the errors. I got a little tired of all the drinking but enjoyed the plot.

This was a great P.I. story. I only wish there were more books. Full of action from start to finish!

happier ending than anticipated. Like Slamm + his corny dialog, + his care for "his" underdogs. D of C
