In the wake of the Second Wave, the angel menace has exploded, and Alex and Willow are on the lam. Willow's prophetic dream points them to Mexico City, where they connect with a fledgling group of angel killers led by the exotically beautiful Kara, an Angel Killer from Alex's past. But the team remains suspicious of Willow, even after the more-experienced Alex takes over as leader, training them hard for a rush attack on the Seraphic Council, or "The Twelve." This elite group of all-powerful angels is also under the scrutiny of Willow's angel-father, Raziel, who has his own sinister plan to defeat them.

What Willow hasn't told Alex is that there was also a mysterious boy in her dream, one she felt overpoweringly attracted to. When brooding, gorgeous Seb shows up in the flesh, he turns out to be another - possibly the world's only other - half angel. He's been searching for Willow all his life, and when Alex enlists this rival to help keep Willow safe, he can't predict what chemistry will pass between them . . . or how far Willow might go to keep Alex safe. Will their love endure or spell doomsday for the human race?

VOYA - Beth Karpas
Like a long-awaited sophomore album, Angel Fire at once fills a longing and yet does not quite live up to expectations. Willow and Alex head to Mexico, but they cannot find peace, because this is the second book in a planned trilogy. The challenges for the pair are not just the invasive angels of the first book (Angel Burn [Candlewick, 2011/VOYA June 2011]) that feed off human life forces, but also a slew of new characters. First and foremost is Seb, another half-angel, who has been searching his whole life for the girl half-angel of his dreams (Willow). When the two meet, their psychic link is too close for Alex, whose own doubts are fueled by the hostility of his own old friend and another angel killer, Kara. Raziel, the angel villain and Willow's father, as well as a new angelic council, are also imminent threats. There is no need to read book one to enjoy book two, but first time readers may not have the patience for Willow and Alex's love traumas, and, like Raziel, may find them self-involved and even boring. Yet the world that Weatherly has created is fascinating, the challenge of fighting the angelic Second Wave is intriguing, and once their love lives are worked out, this reader, for one, cannot wait for the continued adventures of Alex, Willow, Seb, and the other angel killers as they try to save earth and its people. Gr 8 Up—Angel-killer Alex and half-angel Willow travel together to Mexico City, where the angels' powers are growing. There they meet Sebastian, another half-angel, and Willow feels an instant connection to him despite her blossoming romance with Alex. Tensions run high when the teens join a group of inexperienced angel killers who don't like or understand Alex and Willow's relationship, but they all must work together to have any hope of defeating the Church of Angels. The strain of living in a small, tight-knit community, along with Willow's increasingly confusing feelings about Seb, drives a wedge between her and Alex, and when he starts showing signs of angel burn, she begins to wonder if she is causing him harm. In the meantime, the group of angel killers is developing a dangerous plan to infiltrate the Church of Angels headquarters, and when help arrives from an unexpected source, they must quickly decide whom to trust, because failure will almost certainly result in the death of some or all of the group. Full of action, romance, and suspense, Angel Fire is a must-read for fans of the first book.—Misti Tidman, Licking County Library, Newark, OH
Kirkus Reviews
An epic fight against evil, predatory angels takes a back seat to romance in the second of this planned trilogy. Angels intend to turn humans into farm animals as they invade the earth. They feed on human auras, leaving their willing and ecstatic victims sick and dying. Meanwhile, heroine Willow, a half-angel, basks in her true love for boyfriend Alex, an "angel killer," as they travel to Mexico City to hunt the angel high council. Another half-angel, a Mexican boy named Seb, strongly senses that Willow exists and constantly searches for her. Willow finds herself drawn to Seb when they meet, yet she never wavers in her love for Alex. Alex, however, breaks up with her in a fit of jealousy. Amid all of this repetitious romantic torment Weatherly keeps up the plot against the angels, although it simmers in the background through much of this shamelessly overlong story. The book needs to be cut by at least a third in order to sharpen the romance writing. The author writes the exciting suspense portions of the story with far more clarity. Nonetheless, the target audience likely won't complain. Certainly the book's imaginative twist on angels deserves a look. This lengthy installment in the series has inventive premise and some thrilling moments, but both are largely smothered by adolescent angst. (Paranormal romance. 12 & up)

I was unsure about starting in on this next installment in the Angel Burn series. The first book was more enjoyable than I had originally anticipated, as can be seen in my review. But something was keeping me from getting excited about this next book. Perhaps it was the over-exposure to angel paranormals. Regardless of the reason, when I finally picked it up, the story performed better than I expected. The action in chapter one picks up right where the first book leaves off, which is always appreciated by me. There's no better way to start a sequel than with action directly after the first book. no lazy daisy taking your time getting back into the story! In fact, the action was better overall in this book than in the first. Action can go such a long way in the reader's pleasure! I liked that there was so much fighting and gun-shooting action. I still love the way angels are evil in this series. The characters were just so-so. Willow was fine, with her complex relationship with her two selves. I honestly wanted to see more of her struggle, instead of her just pushing her angel side down. Alex was a bore, being way too over-dramatic one moment, and then being for too submissive in the next. The introduction of Seb was a saving point, as the conflict he brought to both Alex and Willow was intense. I would have to agree with Willow that the choice is tricky. There is supposed to be on more book to round out this trilogy, and though I hesitate to get excited about it, I know I will pick it up to see the fate of these characters.

This sounds more amazing than the first one "Angel Burn". I Loved reading that one and I am sure I will love this one too. It gives a different spin on the concept of angels. Don't Miss It. If you like Halo or The Hush Hush series then you need to read this too.

I loved the first one and couldnt wait to read this one. This one upset me. Too much day to day same old stuff very boring throughtout most of the book I had z hard time reading a lot of the chapters. I would have gave up on this book in the middld if i didnt have hope that it got better in the end but the ending made me not care about another one.

This was the all time best book i have ever read. It is full of detail and emotion and really draws you in. The characters are so well rounded and thought out, and the plot was not predictable. It is so easy to enter a character's head, and really feel what they feel. Amazing writer. Amazing first two books and im just waiting for the third.

I had to say that this book was amazing ! Right from the beginning there was this enigma that lingered which kept me tearing through the pages so that i could find out what it was. This book has you go through so many emotions like love obviously, fustration, sadness, and hate. You feel what the character feels and you began to develop your own feelings for each character. I LOVE how different sections were told from different characters. The reader could get a look from a different perspective on an event that took place. It was well done.

You know those books that draw you in and time seems to pass without your awareness or knowledge? This series does that. Theres enough romance and action to send your heart aflutter without any vulgarity. The conflict is surprisingly relatable. This, for a series about angels is quite an achievement. The plot is refreshing. Im thoroughly hooked and cannot wait for the conclusion!!

I loved the first book so much this one was good but had some slow parts, and some big changes. Overall i think it was a good book, and the author has me wandering who Willow's choice will eventually be. Even though I have always liked Alex there is just something about Seb that he can't compete with. I hope all the readers enjoy this second installment!

Loved it! I was drawn in after reading the first book, "Angel Burn". This one promises even more drame and suspense as things unfold. Alex and Willow take a whole lot more on than just one church. The story is exciting, suspenseful, and keeps you on the edge of your nook reading!!
