Overview

My name is Darcy Anderson, and I am cursed with a dark power. Whenever my life is in danger, something inside me summons elemental fire to protect me. I cannot control this.

One night, I was attacked in my home. The fire ... it raged out of control. I survived the inferno, but my house burned to the ground - with my parents inside.

I was at a loss to explain to the courts what happened, and they sent me to prison for ten years for manslaughter.

Now I'm out on parole, and all I want is to return to my home town and rebuild my life; but the man who attacked me is back to finish the job he started.

I can sense the power in me growing. If I can't control it, it will control me and destroy everything - and everyone - I love.

An okay read. Almost 500 story pages...free e-book. A young girl/woman has the element of fire. When she gets out of jail she meets a man with the element of water. People in her life die, some of them because she kills them. This one kind of reminds me of the movie "Carrie." There were some minor (very minor) grammar issues, extra words and such. It's good enough to read once, but it isn't good enough for me to say 'wow.'

I enjoyed this read. I have not decided if I want to read the book that follows.

I liked the story but needed more details.

Great dialogue and description without going overboard on the details. I do agree with one of the other reviews that the main character was annoying at times. But it worked to create emotion and pull me further into the story. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Really enjoyed it - more than I thought I would. It could have gone into more detail, but I think that will come in time with later books. The main character is annoying at times, but I think it is necessary for the story line. Supporting characters are good. I'm going to read the series.

I enjoyed the story. Darcy and Neil were wonderful characters, and I loved Aunt Martha. The sheriff and his son were a bit more cardboard cutouts, but I guess ultimately stereotypes are based in reality, and they followed true to form.
