Overview

Max Ride and her best friends have always had one another's backs. No. Matter. What. Living on the edge as fugitives, they never had a choice. But now they're up against a deadly force that's racing across the globe, and just when they need him the most—Fang is gone. He's creating his own gang that will replace everyone—including Max.

Max is heartbroken over losing Fang, her soul mate. Her closest friend. But with Dylan ready and willing to fight by her side, and she can no longer deny that his incredible intensity draws her in. Max, Dylan, and the rest of their friends must soon join forces with Fang and his new gang for an explosive showdown in Paris that's unlike anything you've ever imagined . . . or read.

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 6–9—Still reeling from Fang's departure in Fang (2010), Max and the flock don't get the chance to enjoy any downtime. There is a new group bent on saving the world by destroying all humans to make room for an enhanced generation of genetically modified children. Not only must Max decide what to do about this new threat, but she is also dealing with her own confused feelings about Dylan, who has joined the Flock, and Fang, her best friend and soul mate who has left her. Meanwhile, Fang has been busy recruiting his own gang of teens, all with different superpowers, in order to combat the same Doomsday Group that Max and the Flock are investigating. Rebecca Soler narrates the seventh title (2011, both Little, Brown) in the series by James Patterson with a youthful voice and an edge that matches Max's sharp personality. Short chapters keep the action-driven plot moving quickly. The narration is accompanied by music during scenes of heavy action or emotion and by the sporadic use of sound effects such as breaking glass and footsteps. Few questions are answered and several new ones are raised. While this title is unlikely to draw in new listeners this late in the series, Angel should tide fans over as they await the upcoming series finale.—Amanda Raklovits, Champaign Public Library, IL

For those of you that know the series, this was actually pretty good, except for the resolution to the major issue. Dont worry, you still here from fang. There is definitely a lot of loose ends to be wrapped up in the last book, which is projected to come out about this time next year. cant wait!!!

If u haven't read this book yet, u totally need to!!! But first you should read the Angel Experiment, the first book in the series. This book is the seventh book in the series (aka: the second to last one). The whole series is awesome, and u NEED to read it. It's for guys and girls, eleven and up. The series is about six kids, who have been experimented on by scientists, and have wings and other powers. Okay, that probably sounds REALLY cheesy, but the book is hilarious. Especially Max, the main character. She's a girl; it's short for Maximum Ride. Most importantly, this is one of THE BEST SERIES EVER. I rank it up there with Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and the Hunger Games triology. So seriously, READ THIS!!!!!!!!

If I'm reading this all correctly then everyone thinks Max should end up with Fang. Just imagine what you would feel like if your boyfriend sudenly leaves leaving only a note behind? To chicken to actualy formaly say good bye? The last thing on my mind would be getting back together with the jerk. Max shoulden't even be thinking of Fang. He's history know. She should fing someone who is kind, adorable, and will not betray her. I understand she may have not fully recovered from her shocking break-up with Fang, but trust me Max will recover. Know I'm NOT saying I like dyllan(or whatever that other guys name is) because to tell you the truth, I really don't. But if Max like likes the other one then I geuss thats fine. Really, we arent the ones who dicide.

Max stop being so girly and weak! U can do better than fang, and waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy better than dyllon. The kick butt attitude , the quickk wit, the funniness, wer did all that go? Fang wuz the best thing that happened to u, sure, but but thats over now so get over it and GO SAVE THE WORLD!!!! Ps max has brown hair

The first thing I'll say is that as a longtime fan of Faxness, Dylan is certainly making me irritated. He keeps purposely breaking Fang and Max up, he showed up out of the blue and is a very selfish, Larry-Stu kind of character. I admit, I will be angry as a fangirl if Dylan and Max end up together. All I want is for Max to be strong and happy, and I only think Fang can do that for her. Dylan makes her look weak and sappy. Ignoring my fangirliness, this was a very decent book. It was dark with a touch of sadness, and I admire those kinds of books. The plot is very well written, and the ending surprised me. Angel is a better character than I found her as before, and the characters don't disappoint me (except Dylan). Thanks for taking the time to read this (very lengthy) review. For now, I'm up and away!~

I love the maximum ride books, but i feel that this book kind of messed up the entire series. I liked how it was going without dylan and prophecies about fang dying. I really liked how max and fang were together. Hope the next book(if there is more) will be alot better. Also hoping fang and max will get back together. I mean max and fang were the best parts about all the books. Hope the series gets better.

Dylan is horribly annoying, why patterson decided that Max would find this adorable is beyond me. Max is defenitely not the same. Max now seems like the typical teenager needy, weak, and unable to function without a guy. Fang seems like the obvious choice, if Max ends up with Dylan (who we all know loves her because he has too) it will be really depressing and a complete waste of my time. I will feel sorry for Max for falling for someone who is forced to love her.

Wow! Could it be true? Could Max really be falling for her genetically enhanced mate, Dylan, who was created especially for her? There's a lot of questions in this book, that will keep you on your toes. You've got to read if to find out if Fang has left Max for good, as his letter said, leaving Max even more confused. Of course she's still hearing her "voice" and is trying to make sense of what it is telling her. The adults in the book turn from good to bad and bad to good as fast as flipping a flapjack. No wonder she is confuse. The end is coming...how will she deal with it? Gotta read!

The book was awesome and really good like the rest but the only thing that changed was Fang. He was... ugh. Indescribable. Talkative, maybe? Different...? Definitely. Hard to describe, you know? Altogether, the book was good, great storyline and plot. -NerdieBirdie

Everyone here knows that patterson doesnt actually write these right he just comes up with the plot then hires someone to write it. Thats how he comes out with 6 books a year.
