Andrew Mayne's Angel Killer is easily one of the most exciting, perfectly-paced and intelligent thrillers I've read since Hannibal! While I'm a fairly slow reader, I charged through Angel Killer like a train. I absolutely could not tear myself away from this story. Andrew's build-up of suspense, pacing and character development were refreshing. Following Jessica Blackwood as she unravels a deadly killer's game in a race against time felt like I was watching an 'actiony' Silence of the Lambs.
This is definitely one of my favorite books by Andrew Mayne. This book is a mix between a crime drama and a magic show. The plot moves quickly and I found myself trying to solve the puzzle along with the heroine. The author even reveals some of the secrets behind the magic tricks, which I enjoyed. I am assuming there will be a sequel to this, and I can't wait!
Who would have thought that the craft of magic could turn murder mystery? Andrew Mayne is a great and talented writer/magician/podcaster. I've loved everything that he's done so far. Angel Killer is the best to date. Highly recommended.
This is a great read no matter what mood your in. Mayne crafts an excellent police procedural and combined with stage magic. In this book he has create some amazing characters. Jessica Blackwood an FBI from
a famous magic family fighting to be taken seriously. Computer Science genius Dr. Aisles. Her ex-boyfriend current stalker Damien, whose reminiscent of Frank Abignale (catch me if you can) and the murderer the Warlock who is faking magic powers through magical illusions.
Andrew Mayne is probably my favorite new writer I can't wait to dive into this book. But I suppose I have to cook dinner for the kids first. Every single one of his books so far have been near impossible to put down until your done. I even have reread some of my favorite and I never reread books.
