When English troops threaten Lady Christiane MacGillean's beloved castle, she has no choice but to set it ablaze--and with it, the ancient treasure hidden there. Escaping into the Highland hills, she is quickly captured, taken south and caged by the English king. Outraged by the lady's treatment, Sir Gavin Faulkener bargains for her life--and suddenly finds himself not only guardian of her castle, but wedded to her as well.
As they rebuild the ruined tower together, Christiane begins to trust the knight, who cannot deny his deepening passion for her--but he is honor-bound to the king, and the lady remains very much a rebel...

I have read many books on my nook and have never taken the time to write a review. This one was soooooo worthy of my time to write one! Couldn't put it down! Read it........you will not be disappointed!!!!
This was a good book. A nice mix of romance and action. I read it in about 3 days. I give it 5 stars.
This story is sad, touching, romantic- totally wonderful. The historical aspect is great, accurate and very interesting. After reading this, I hoped I wasn't of English decent. Such a cruel King was Edward Plantagenet- it is hard to imagine what so many innocent suffered by his hand. The care Gavin shows Christian is sweet and very touching. Highly recommended reading
