    more from this reviewer

Not as good as the anime, but still worth it.

I actually watched the anime first and thought it was pretty good. The manga that it is based on is almost as good. I like the story and characters. Misaki's eeking can be a little annoying, because she does it every time she gets scared, but it didn't bother me too much. I like her and how she 's excited to play Angelic Layer. I like all the other characters as well. Icchan is especially hilarious being the weirdo lab scientist. There is a running gag of bystanders commenting how he's so strange or creepy. I think the main problem I see so far is that it doesn't go into as much depth as the anime. In the anime, the characters are fleshed out much more. The anime also does a better job of depicting the battles, because the manga relies too heavily on speed lines when the battle dolls are fighting, and it's hard to get a good sense of their movements.

    A reviewer

This is a pretty cool series. I think you should read it! The only draw back about this series, is that it is too short! There's only 5 volumes! Oh well! Buy it any way!

So good, I wish it was real!!!

Angelic Layer is a hilarious book with female, and male charaters. Girls would enjoy this book because of the angels, and the charaters. Boys would also sorta like it because it has to do with a sport and battling. The Angelic Layer books describe such a unique sport and I congratulate CLAMP (The authors) for coming up with the idea and to make it into a successful graphic novel. I LOVE ANGELIC LAYER!!!!!!

    Sweeping the Nation...

Granted I haven't read insane amounts of manga, but I do know what I like, and this is it. I love the artwork (well who can't love Clamp's beautiful art?) and the fact that it was left in its original form instead of being flipped when translated. What I mean is that it's read from back to front, right to left like the original Japanese manga. The story so far is great and I'm looking forward to getting the next volume... What more can I really say?

    ANGEL FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Clamp is an all-female team creating some of the most popular "manga" Japanese comic books compiled into paperback-bound graphic novels in the business. They're best known for their funny "Cardcaptors" series of books and toys for young girls -- a modest "yin" to the "yang" of the boy-targeted Pokemon phenomenon. That phenomenon is at the center of Clamp's newest series, a tongue-in-cheek satire that was quickly translated for the English-speaking market. Angelic Layer is an action-packed fantasy story for girls age six and up, about a human-like "Angel" toy that kids collect and program to fight other Angels in tournament battles.
