Angels: Opposing Viewpoints

by Deanne Durrett

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 6-9-In this clearly written series entry, Durrett explores such intriguing questions as, What are angels? How do different religions view them? Are angels always good? She traces their appearances back to the Old Testament, through the Medieval and Renaissance periods, the Protestant Reformation, the Victorian Era, into current times and New Age philosophy. The well-organized and accessible text is objective and without religious bias. Brief quotes from various "witnesses" and experts, religious and lay people are recorded. Black-and-white photos and reproductions lend support to the factual material but are more decorative than anything else. While not an essential purchase, this book will find a niche in the lives of curious, earth-bound young people everywhere.-Joan Soulliere, Wenham Public Library, MA
