Kick Back & Review - Laura @ Kick Back & Review
"I love how Ms. Lario manages to write sexy, dominant men without making them dominate the women. And the women in these books hold their own. They are strong, independent, capable women that choose to stay with their men. The men also come across as sensitive without losing any of their masculinity. It's a fantastic blend that isn't always easily (or successfully) pulled off, but this author does it well."

“I was really looking forward to the second installment in this series, and I was not disappointed! Sweet, romantic, and extremely steamy, this story moved the overall plot of the series along but kept the main story centered around the relationship between Ethan and Tayla.”

Meet the Author

Rosalie Lario is the author of the award-winning Demons of Infernum series. Blood of the Demon, Book 1 in the series, is available in bookstores now. Mark of the Sylph, Book 2, is set to release on December 11, 2012. Rosalie is also the author of the Fallen Warriors series. Books 1-3 are available online now, with three more books planned in the series.

Rosalie double majored in Anthropology and Classics as an undergraduate student. She briefly considered becoming an archaeologist before realizing they don't actually live the life of Indiana Jones. So what was a classical geek armed with a lot of useless knowledge to do? Become a lawyer, of course!

After attending law school in Florida, she practiced real estate law for several years before finally admitting to herself that negotiating contracts wasn’t nearly as fun as dreaming up stories. As an avid reader of romances, she knew that was what she wanted to write. She never imagined all the mythology she'd learned throughout her undergraduate education might actually come in handy, but it makes perfect fodder for the paranormal romance stories she now dreams up.

When not writing, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son in their home state of Florida, as well as searching out things that go bump in the night. She still hasn’t found any proof of the supernatural, but she's keeping her fingers crossed. If that ever does happen, it remains to be seen whether she’ll jump around in excitement, or run screaming in terror (but she's betting on the latter)!

    Enjoyable Read

Ethan, one of the Fallen Angels, needs to find his mate and ensure his maximum potential when he and the other Fallen Angels wage their war against the Angels who seek the destruction of mankind. Unlike his other brethren, he knows who his mate is. The problem is, he needs to overcome her animosity and hurt feelings in order to get her to see what they are to each other.

At six, Tayla met Ethan and told herself she was going to marry him. At sixteen she threw herself at him only to be rejected in the worst way possible. Hurt by his rejection and convinced he let her father die, Tayla has kept away from Ethan. When he marches back into her life, she tries to shield her heart from him, as she’s positive he will leave her (as everyone else has) if she loves him.

Ethan and Tayla were an interesting couple. You could definitely see where the age difference that was so upsetting to Ethan ten years ago still was on obstacle in their current relationship. He was looking at Tayla as a grown woman, where Tayla, at times, was still looking at Ethan through those teenage eyes. Sure the lust was very adult, but some of Tayla’s reasoning behind why she didn’t want to move forward with Ethan were a bit juvenile.

Not having read the first book in this series, I really wanted to know more about the pending war with the Angels, but we didn’t get much of that back story in this book. While not necessarily integral to this particular storyline, it might have helped more the series forward and giving the reader an idea of what was coming in the next book.

I enjoyed the book and will be looking for the next in the series

B rating for this great series book...

    My Review:
I really like this series! In this book, we get to meet Tayla. She is another nephilim who actually knew her angel father, until he died when she was 16 years old. Ethan was his best friend and was with him when he died and Tayla has always blamed Ethan for not saving him. At 16, she had a huge crush on Ethan and he felt the same draw to her, but she was too young for him, so he stayed away. Now it's 10 years later and Ethan is ready to move on Tayla and make her his mate. He just has to gain her trust again after his abandonment of her on top of her father's death.

This book took a step further into this fabulous world that Rosalie Lario has created. See the review for Book #1, For Love of an Angel, for more about the basics of the world. I really liked both Ethan & Tayla, although I don't understand why either of them was so stubborn about letting the other know their feelings (although without that, it probably wouldn't have been much of a story...hehe.) Things are ramping up as far as the overall story arc and I think that it's going to be fun to watch the story evolve. This book had a bit more action than the first and I think that is also going to increase throughout the series, as the showdown between the angels gets closer. I also really loved that we got to see a good bit of Eva in this book (heroine from book #1.)

These books are short reads...about a third of the size of a normal novel, but they don't seem to be lacking at all. The stories are fabulous, the characters well-developed, and the romance is sizzling. The world that Rosalie has created is amazing. I am still in love with the cave where they all live. I want to go live there. Of course, the fact that there are 10 super-sexy male angels (the other 2 are female) that wander around all the time shirtless (shirts get in the way of their wings when they need them suddenly) makes the cave dwelling pretty alluring too. There are twelve Fallen angels (10 males, 2 females) and I am assuming that we will get to see all their HEA's. It's going to be a fun series.
