Angel’s Flight is a unique type of omnibus composed of fou

Angel’s Flight is a unique type of omnibus composed of four, short-story to novella length, works set in the Guild Hunter universe. Of the four, two I have already read, “Angel’s Judgment” originally published as part of Must Love Hellhounds, and “Angel’s Wolf” that was part of the Angels of Darkness anthology. “Angel’s Pawn,” originally e-published as a short story, and “Angel’s Dance,” the novella length never before published story in this collection, were both new reads for me, and I have to say that they both added to the richness of the world that Ms. Singh has already created in the Guild Hunter universe.

This collection earned a high four stars all the way around.

    “Angel’s Pawn”
In this story we get to know Ashwini— a secondary character so far in the main Guild Hunter storyline— a little better, along with her charming interest Janvier “the Cajun.” I loved getting to know some more about these two, and straightening out some of my earlier misconceptions, including my wrong assumption that for a hunter to be sent the vamp in question had to be under a hundred. Ashwini is a fascinating character, and Janvier is a perfect foil for her. We also were able to see Nezarach, a frightening yet enlightening excursion. I truly hope that we get to see more of these two in the future and would adore a whole novel devoted to their budding love story. This was a fun, if agonizingly short story.
I give this one four stars.

    “Angel’s Judgment”
This story, I feel, is a must read for any Guild Hunter fan. Detailing how Sara became head of the Hunters Guild, and met Deacon, it is the ground work for the first few books, gives some insight into how the guild actually functions and is an all around good read.
I give is one four stars.

    “Angel’s Wolf”
I feel that this story is only fully appreciated after having read through Archangel’s Blade, where we experience the trauma one of the main characters, Noel, goes though, and so can more fully understand the transformation he undergoes in this story. I really enjoyed this story, both the first time I read it in Angels of Darkness and in this volume. It is a complete departure from the main storyline in the Guild Hunter series, and as such has a freedom to be nothing more than it is. Even in so short a work, this story managed to feel complete to me, and encompass feeling of both tenderness and ferocity. It also showed and angel in this world with both power and compassion, a somewhat new concept to date in this series. I would be happy to see either of the characters in a secondary role again in future works, I am however content with where their story is now to feel they do not need further spotlight.
I give this story a high four stars.

    “Angel’s Dance”
This new story surprised me by going back in time and letting us see some of the build-up that got us to where we open in the first Guild Hunter book. Seeing Raphael as a new archangel was an interesting sight, and the cobbling together of his seven was seminal to the series, if only peripheral to this story. I will admit that Galen has not been one of my favorite characters to date, however seeing this story from his perspective definitely had him grow on me. Also getting to know Jessamy more deeply was a pleasure, the only externally “flawed” angels in this series hers was a worthwhile journey to travel, and I felt honored to be able to tread some of it with her. The glimpses we get of Illium in this story are equally fun and sad; I enjoyed knowing the origins of “Bluebell” but knowing the future outcome of his relationship with a mortal that strings through this story was a bitter ache. All in all it was a good story that also added wonderful back-story and insight into the series on Raphael’s side.
I give this story four stars.

    Another Success

Nalini Singh succeeds in weaving another beautiful tale. She continues to sit at the top of my favorite authors list and shows no sign of moving. Ms Singh manages to keep the strength and aloofness of Galen and Jessamy as seen in earlier books, but successfully ties in other deep aspects of their characters.

    Terrific Anthology

Angels' Flight (Guild Hunter 0.5, 1.5, 4.5, 4.75) by Nalini Singh

Four short novella’s that take place in Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter world. I’d already read three of the four Angels' Pawn, Angels’ Judgment, and Angel’s Wolf but it’s nice to have them all in one place rather than trying to remember which anthology they were in. Angels’ Dance is the only previously unpublished story in Angels' Flight. It is Galen and Jessamy’s story. It is a wonderful “nerd” and “jock” love story. Jessamy is the teacher/ historian at Refuge that has a deformed wing and can’t fly. Galen is Raphael’s new weapons master. I enjoyed this story so much that despite my over-flowing TBR shelf I am going to go back and re-read the Guild Hunter series.

    Loved it!!!

Angel's Dance- 5 STARS! I am such a fiend Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter Series that I have already read all of these novellas, save for one- Angel's Dance! And when Angel's Flight was released I was so excited to have all of these wonderful novellas in one book! But most of all I was excited to read Angel's Dance- Jessamy and Galen's story!!! All I can do is *SIGH* and hug myself! I LOVED Angel's Dance! Such a tender, sweet and yes, sexy story! Jessamy and Galen are a beautiful example of how two opposites attract and compliment each other. The telling of their courtship simply melted my heart! Any avid fan of the Guild Hunter Series must read this novella! You get so much- Jessamy and Galen's story and a glimps into some back story w/ everyone's favorite angel... Bluebell aka Illium! p.s. you also find out who gave him that winsome moniker! ;) Raphael, Jason, Dimitri and even Aohdan make appearances! And if that isn't sexy enough, Jessamy and Galen's "dance" will melt your socks off!!! Angel's Dance was such a delight! Angel's Pawn- 4 STARS Angel's Judgment- 4STARS Angel's Wolf- 3.5 STARS

    Not Very Good

These short stories seemed cobbled together and the last one was way too long and rambled.

Great series of mini-stories from Nalini Singh

You definitely need to pick up a copy if you love the Guild Hunter series from Singh, the 4 stories give you some background and insight into the supporting characters to Ellie and Raphael, especially the long-awaited story of Ashwini and Janvier. Personal favorite of the 4 would have to be Angels' Dance - the heart-wrenching story of Jessamy and Galen's meeting and romance.

Love these novellas. They give a nice background to the stories

Love these novellas. They give a nice background to the stories I have already read from the Guild Hunter series. They just add to the story so much when you hear about one of the characters in these novellas mentioned in the full-length stories of this series. You can just smile and say "uh huh..... I know about that one!!"

If you have not read any of this series, it is HOT HOT HOT and totally not appropriate for young ones. Hope all others who give this series a chance love it as much as I.

Thanx Nalini, keep them coming please!!!

A Must Read if you Love the Guild Hunter Series

This anthology has three amazing stories which are part of Nalini Singh's mesmerizing tales of angels, vampires and their loves. I started the series late last year and became thoroughly engrossed in this world. While I found some parts of Elena's books a bit slow going, that was not the case for this book. These character-driven stories are concise yet filled with strong emotions, action, passion, and enough mystery to hold my interest. I loved the fact that these heroes and heroines each possesses such distinct personalities that are so rare to find in other series out there. Couldn't put this book down. Keep 'em coming Nalini!

    Nalini Singh is awesome!

I found this author by accident and now I am constantly checking to see if she has any new Angel books on the B&N website. I was loyal to Stephen King, Dean Koontz, John Grisham, and Anne Rice (witch series only); and while trying to locate something to read one evening, I found the first book of the series Chosen.

Romance, fantasy, and danger in every book. If these books are ever made into a movie(s)...who would play the dangerous sexy Raphael? Or Dimitri? I would be first in line to see the movie as I have enjoyed the fantasy of Angels, good and bad, along with Vampires walking the earth. I will end this review by asking Ms. Singh to please write more on this series!

    Loved it!

I liked reading these short stories about characters that are in the main series. The backstory helps create a fuller picture of every character that the main books don't touch on. Loved it!
