I had no idea that rage could be so insurmountable until my wife and I came to a crossroads in our 24 year marriage. Of course, like many, I read every marriage self-help book that seemed to speak to my position. In the meantime, I found myself mired in frustration over the way my wife refused to change while I sought professional help, was put on meds, and did nothing but dote over her and the children. I gave up my hobbies, worked less, and paid more attention; but she told me that I may have been too late. I became personally hurt and let me rage take over my life. I was screaming and yelling at everything for the slightest thing, and I needed help fast. This book holds nothing back. Be prepared to hold up a mirror and see an ogre, that's what happened to me. If you are not prepared to take responsibility and accountability for your own actions and responses to your feelings, leave this book alone. If you are ready to make a real change in your life, then this is the book to read. Like any other addict, the reader is expected to understand that yes, you do have a right to feel hurt, you have a right to the reasons that you feel the way you do, you may have a past that fuels your feelings; but he decision to use rage (yelling, insulting, and all-around being mean) as a reaction is your own. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to make a change. I don't recommend this to someone who wants a 'quick fix' or to make a change that will "definitely" fix your relationship. What this book targets is the way that the intended reader may work on controlling the rage that accompanies anger and ways to handle the emotion in a more controlled manner. I've gone from someone who would explode in every situation that 'begged' me to get peeved to someone who can take a breath, think a good thought and be much more happy.
