Cooro fell from the sky when he was a baby, like a dark angel. He is a "+anima", or a human with some of the powers of an animal; in Cooro's case, he can grow the wings of a crow. Husky is also a +anima, with the abilities of a fish, and is being used as a circus freak in a traveling sideshow. The 11-year-old Cooro frees Husky, and the two flee together, trying to find a new home. In this world, normal humans hate and fear the +anima, even their children. Cooro and Husky soon meet others like themselves: the taciturn Senri, who grows claws like a bear, and the cute but hapless Nana, who has been using her bat abilities to pickpocket. The ragtag bunch agree to travel together and find a new family with each other. +Anima is unabashed shonen manga, with adorable, magical children with golden hearts and mysterious secrets yet to be revealed. The characters are likable, and the drawing clear and stylized. It's an enjoyable romp for comic readers with a sweet tooth. (June) Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.

This Series is very enticing and just makes me want to continue and not stop for even a single meal. I may be a young teenager but I do know a good series when I read one. I have come to such an exciting part that I just don't want to read then have to wait for the next volume or when I have enough money to get them. The Plot of this story is so thrilling and there are some parts that are about a single character who has the 'Crow' Anima and it just adds an air of mystery to it. I recommend this series to teenagers or even preteens who think that they would like a little enjoyment and maybe a thrill to keep them going.

This is a great start to a great series. The characters are precious and wonderfully distinct; you may not root for them at first, but they'll get to you soon. The art is very clear and neat, but not overly simplistic. This volume is one of the most rereadable in the series. The stories (because, for the most part, the chapters are small stories that fit into an overarching narrative) are simple and cute, albeit predictable. It's not the best of the series, but a necessary introduction. Don't come to +Anima for a serious story or for serious action; neither are in abundance. Do come if you want cute characters and a fun narrative. If you're looking at this for a gift, I would recommend +Anima for boys or girls 10+. Older people can and do enjoy it, but it's much less guaranteed. It's also a nice introduction to manga for the uninitiated.

+anima is about 4 orphans that have +animas. (animal powers) they travel together, not really in any specific direction. just looking for somewhere that can be their home. there isnt much of a real story, just little adventures and they keep traveling. but this manga is so cute and the mystery of how the kids got thier powers makes you keep reading til the end.

This manga is so cute! Even though it's rated Teen (13+) it's very kid-friendly. The storyline isn't hard to follow, and the characters are lovable! (Cooro is so kawaii! ¿)

I find Anima to be sickeningly cute and funny. I knew from the moment I looked at the cover that Anima was going to become another one of my favorites. The whole plot just pulls at you making you want to know more. Why do people shun the Anima? Does Cooro find others like himself? So many question that just need to be answered. The characters are all wonderfully done with their own stories. I loved Husky's story though and I find it interesting that he dressed like he did for the Circus. I also love silent Senri. He just has that mystery about him that makes you want to know more about him. I would recommend Anima for anyone who enjoys a good laugh. Anima gets an A++++++++ in my book.

This series has been one of the best ones I've read. It brings animals and people to a whole new level, with enough humor to make you chuckle ever few seconds. The characters are adorable and each brings their own trait to the table. A must read for manga lovers!

Simply one of the greatest series I have ever read. I think this book is one of those 'accidental' books(Where you accidentaly find it) and takes more than a few pages to get what's going on. The illustrations is pretty awesome than any manga I've ever read, and it has a great plot. I recoomend this to anyone who loves animals and manga!
