Overview

With beautiful photography and extraordinary wildlife sequences, this original and heartwarming book shows children that animals have family relationships, too-some of them just like ours! Pictures of human families are set beside animal clans to show charming similarities, as lion cubs fight over a stick, flocks of birds travel together to warmer climates, and a mother monkey comforts her baby when he hurts himself. Children will delight in recognizing their own family dynamics in nature, and learning about members of the animal kingdom in an accessible and memorable new way.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Melissa Hower
This book explains how animal families are similar to human families in so many ways. From the way animal parents care for their young to the ways they enjoy a meal, animal families and human families have much in common. The book is filled with facts about all kinds of animal families from zebras to sea lions. Beautiful photographs capture the family relationships of puppies, penguins, and many, many more species of animals. Different types of animal homes are explained as well as the various ways animals eat, sleep, travel, and bathe. Animal families play together, communicate with each other, and protect each other just like people do. This book includes a table of contents at the beginning of the book and a glossary and index at the end. Children who like to learn about animals will enjoy this book, because it presents so much information in an appealing way. The photographs are heartwarming and fun. It would be a wonderful resource to include in any elementary school library. Reviewer: Melissa Hower
