Preface

A note to skeptics...

It was once believed that the Earth was flat and not round. It was once considered an indisputable fact that women did not have souls. It was once considered absolute truth that those of certain races were inferior. Galileo was once ridiculed - and even considered blasphemous - for proclaiming that the Earth was not the center of the universe after all.

Those of us who know better realize how ridiculous - and, in some cases, dangerous - such belief systems can be. They are usually based on arrogance, self-interest, or simply, ignorance. Throughout history, there have been those who have risked their reputations - and, in some cases, their lives - to question such proclamations and to make the truth be known.

I herein offer this latest bit of truth, for those who have remained uninformed up until this point. I, too, have a skeptical nature - yet I understand that there comes a time when enough facts have been gathered to overturn former, outdated beliefs. I contend that, in regard to animals having souls, that time is now. This truth has been a long time in coming.

My journey into this realm has been eye opening, mind expanding, and very healing. It is my intention that others will be comforted by the overwhelming evidence of life after death for animals; the highly substantiated notion that our loved ones never really die, no matter their species, no matter their size.

A note to those who are experiencing grief over the loss of a beloved animal...

My deepest sympathy is with you on the loss of your precious companions. I truly understand the depth of the pain and grief you are now enduring. It was that very pain upon the loss of a beloved companion animal in my own life that originally led to this book. Only those of us who have had such sacred relationships with these special beings known as animals can truly understand what you are going through. It is my hope that this book will provide comfort and assistance in getting through this difficult time. May you find support, understanding, comfort, and peace in these pages.
—Kim Sheridan

Recommended for animal lovers, and maybe for those that have little understanding of other living things

I cannot say that what Ms. Sheridan proposes is true. I can say I suspect much of it is. If you like to think, 'outside the box' this book is one that does that in spades.

    A compassionate case.

I can't say for sure that Kim's book convinces me of an afterlife - for animals or us (though I am convinced there is not a distinction between humans and animals) - but I am a tough nut. 'None are so blind as those who will not see.' Still, having lost my beloved pet recently, I cried and felt comforted that I was not 'crazy'. Kim makes an excellent case for something I do believe - animals do in fact have emotional lives just like us. Humans believe otherwise only so that the continued torture and abuse of animals can be deemed acceptable. If you lift up that veil...we are ugly indeed. Kim's compassion comes thru and we need more people like this in the world who are not afraid to be openly caring and compassionate of all life forms. Her descriptions of her animals and her relationship with them sounds much like mine though she has provided me with much needed education on the value of all. I find myself curious about all critters even rats...which I have no real understanding of.

A little different, but definately worth reading

I was skeptical for the first 300 pages, but then something touched me that started to change my whole way of thinking. I can't even remember what it was now, but it made me stop and review everything I just read. From that point on, it just made more and more sense. Whether or not you do believe in an afterlife or not, the impact of this book is much more than just about that. It's a cry out for more humane treatment of animals. Would you allow your beloved pet to be treated the same way as industrial farm animals? I think not.

Wonderful stories and insights. Not sure I agree with everything she feels to be true, but food for thought!

    Great

This book remindes me of the grief I felt when my pet died years ago. Even those who do not believe on the afterlife will be convinced that every single event in this story is true.

    Fantastic book

I have always been interested in the after life for people, but didnt think it could be the same for animals.I guess I didn't think of it much.Kim has opened my eyes to the possibility that it is true for both ,we are all living souls in life and it only makes sense that that it would be the same in death wouldn't it be so nice to be reunited with our pets that we love and still miss everyday. Thanks Kim for an eye opener book you made me think about things that i normally wouldn't have when it comes to animals. I have always had love for them and always have treated them with kindness and respect, and I feel it will be more so now.keep up the good work you are do a great service to all animals .

    Recommended

It was a great book but a little to long. The stories were all about the same. The only thing the pets belonged to different people.
