Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

“These tales celebrate and affirm the healing magic created by the loving relationship between kids and animals. . . . A joyous book.”
— Barbara Abercrombie, editor of Cherished: 21 Writers on Animals They Have Loved and Lost

Animals and the Kids Who Love Them is an insightful blend of compelling stories and rich life lessons from which we can all learn. For all who have had an animal touch their life in some way, this book serves as a wonderful reminder that animals profoundly impact us at every stage of life.”
— Dianne McGill, executive director and CEO, Banfield Charitable Trust

“Kids and animals make a perfect connection! What a treat to step into the Andersons’ book and discover the myriad ways that animals bless our children’s lives.”
— June Cotner, editor of Animal Blessings and Dog Blessings

Library Journal
In this latest addition to their "Angel Animal" series, the Andersons (cofounders, Angel Animal Network; coauthors, Dogs and the Women Who Love Them) have gathered stories illustrating the positive influence of animals on children facing difficult challenges. Featured are therapy animals that have touched the lives of many children, including Ricochet, a failed service dog who tandem surfs with disabled children; Simon, the disabled cat who visits inner-city children during tutoring sessions; and Caitee, the golden retriever who gives children confidence to testify in court cases. The book also highlights special family pets like Maya, a rescue dog whose previous owner passed away and who was given a second home where she aided an autistic young woman. Other stories include Cocoa Puff, the guinea pig who helped shy children learn to read, and Woodstock, the chicken who calmed an emotionally troubled child. VERDICT As in Dogs and the Women Who Love Them, the unconditional love provided by these animals shines brightly through these stories. Strongly recommended for patrons interested in animal-assisted therapy and those who enjoy sweet animal narratives.—Eva Lautemann, Georgia Perimeter Coll. Lib., Clarkston

    Whitefoot to Everyone IMPORTANT

*pads in triumphantly* "Yes! I'm back! My mom STILL hasn'y given me back my nook, but the B&N website WORKS! I had to make my own account (I don't know my dad's password) but I'm here! Birdpaw, I can still train. Goldenstripe, Flowerpaw too. So I will be posting like this until tomorrow. Also, I can't post in the same book twice, so if you need to talk to me, go to 'Weathering' and talk to me in the first result, then the next and so on. PLEASE TELL THIS TO EVERYONE!!! Okay?" *suddenly feeling tired, the pregnant shecat lay down and curled up with her tail over her nose* ~Whitefoot

    Whitefoot and Kits

*limps in with an herb and cobweb covered gash on her leg. She flops tiredly down and grooms her kits. They fidget under her rasping tounge and try to look at her gash.* "Mommy what's that?" asks Branchkit. "Does it hurt?" Violetkit gasped. "It's fine little ones. It's just a scratch I got from a battle." *instantly the kits are off her squealing and play fighting* "I'm an evi Bloodclan warrior and I'm going to kill you all!" announced Blazekit. "NEVER!" squealed Hailkit and leaped at his brother. *Whitefoot purred as she watched her kits playing around with eachother.* ~Resting Whitefoot (I am locked out of the warrior books so can someone advertise for my kits? Their descriptions are at 'samba' result one. Thanks!)
