Animals Are Us: A Guide to a Kinder World
"This book will save lives—human and animals."

Victoria Thompson is a passionate advocate for the protection of animals from great harm. She movingly describes our appalling failures in this regard and praises those who press for the enlightened awareness and humane treatment of animals. She believes profoundly that we must not continue to think of animals as just resources to exploit—for animals too have a right to live naturally. And she gives us solutions for a kinder world.

About the Author

Victoria Thompson was born in Alexandria, of French, Italian, Spanish and English parentage. She grew up speaking five languages and was educated at the Sacred Heart British Girl's Convent there. In Australia, she trained as an actress and worked in film, television and theatre. She left acting to study psychology and became a psychotherapist, eventually giving it up to return to her love of books and writing. Her memoir, 'Losing Alexandria' (Picador), was a literary success, appearing on The Age best-seller list. 'City of Longing', launched at the Melbourne Writer's Festival in 2011, was optioned when still in manuscript form by a film producer. Victoria has also worked as an interpreter in the medical profession and travelled to Japan, China, Russia, India and the Himalayas, England, Europe and America.
