Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Amy Orr
This is a reference book from the "All About Winter" set. The set contains four books. Animals in Winter, Christmas, People in Winter and Snowflakes. Animals in Winter contains animal photos and informative text. In the first chapter, "Winter Is Here," we learn that winter is a time when animals do many things to survive the cold temperatures. In the second chapter, "Migration," we learn that some animals migrate to warmer places. In the third chapter, "Hibernation," we learn how bears and bats hibernate. In chapter four, "Other Animals," we learn how underwater animals survive the winter, how a squirrel's hard work during autumn pays off and how camouflage keeps certain animals safe. This book is a great way for parents and teachers to teach their children about winter animals. The "All About Winter" set was designed to help below-level readers access text. The series also suggests more books to read about animals in winter as well as an Internet site related to the book, www.facthound.com. This book has a table of contents, glossary, bibliography and index. Reviewer: Amy Orr
