Excellent animation book

I really enjoyed this book it now occupies a prized place amongst my other art and animation books..or it would if i ever put it back on the shelf. It is an excellent book designed as much for the visual storyteller and writer as it is for animators, cartoonists and film makers. It is written with both the beginner in mind and a more advanced animator or storyteller. The illustrations are a lot of fun and do an excellent job of getting the author's points across clearly and often in a humorous way.

I would highly recommend this book for any aspiring animator, cartoonist or writer who really wants to get past drawing/writing clichés and explore what the medium can do as far as telling stories in a an interesting and exciting way.

    Excellent Animation Resource

I love movies, especially animated ones. I have a large collection of books about animation and moviemaking. Most are very technical ' how to create a bouncing ball or walk cycle, etc' but this book goes beyond that. It fills a gap in my collection that was sorely needed. This is not a 'How to draw' book . This book is about the what's and the why's ... in other words, it gets you thinking about what you're doing beyond just the mechanics of making something move. This book is designed to help you think about how all the pieces fit together so you can best tell your story, how to design your whole animated world so that every piece fits and serves the story you're trying to convey. It's well written with easy to grasp concepts and plenty of fun illustrated examples. Along with my technical books on how to animate this is truly a book i will be referring to a lot to get my brain un jammed and really thinking about what I'm doing. Highly recommended.
