Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
This is a fantastic addition to a biography collection and it is a worthwhile purchase for those students interested in World War II history and the life of Anne Frank. The "DK Biography" series follows the typical DK format through enriching the text with wonderful photographs of Anne and her family along with side boxes explaining vocabulary words and relevant historical moments. There are 18 chapters that cover Anne's childhood, the war, her family's capture and their deportation to the concentration camps where Anne, her sister and mother would later die. Anne's father's pursuit to create Anne's legacy through publishing her diaries is also explained. A timeline of Anne's life along with suggested Web sites to visit tops of this book. The extensive citation list demonstrates the research involved in this excellent resource. A table of contents and index allows students to access information quickly. Overall, this is highly recommended for upper elementary and middle school students. 2004, DK Publishing, Ages 11 to 15.
