Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Scott's 1829 novel gets the red-carpet treatment in this superscholarly edition, which, along with a newly corrected text, offers essays, explanatory notes, a glossary of the Scottish usage, and a map. This was written toward the end of Scott's career and is a darker novel that his earlier swashbucklers. Though this is pricey, the only other edition available costs $90. Nonetheless, this is still for hardcore academic collections. Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.
