Anne of the Thousand Days

( 1 )

Overview

This beautiful presentation of the story of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn is played against the well-known historical background of the Court of Henry, and the arrangement of the present acting version follows that used for the Broadway production. As a matter of fact, there is almost no scenery, and the various scenes are played within a single setting in which lights and a half-dozen articles of furniture are all that are used."

Too much attention in life, too much attention in death...

Anne of 1000 Days is a good biography on Anne Boylen (forgive the spelling). I enjoyed the read, and found the narrative voice to be academic but literary. My only complaint was that, at times, there was a little more gossip than history. However, since this IS a book about a bed-hopping, tiara-snatching, english-bred, french-raised tart, I suppose that's entirely appropriate!
