Kilmeny of the Orchard is the story of a young man who falls in love with a mute girl.
The Story Girl begins the adventures of a group of young cousins and their friends who live in a rural community. The Story Girl is a girl who entertains the group with fascinating tales including various events in the local history.
The Golden Road (The Story Girl 2) continues the story, but now the kids are a little older and dealing with new topics, such as life and romance.
The Emily Trilogy consists of Emily of New Moon, Emily Climbs, and Emily’s Quest. The trilogy is similar to the Anne of Green Gables series. It is about a young orphan girl, Emily Starr, whose father dies and has to go live with her relatives. She meets a group of friends whom each have special talents. Emily’s is writing. The story follows Emily and her friends, as they grow together dealing with life, family and romance.
In The Blue Castle, Valancy Stirling is twenty-nine, unmarried, and has lived her entire life with her gossip-minded family who actively discourage happiness and treat Valancy like a child. When Valancy is diagnosed with a terminal heart ailment, she realizes she has never been happy in her life, and rebels against her family and the colorless life they have imposed on her.
Magic for Marigold is about a little girl growing up in a house full of grown-ups. She has to rely on her own imagination to find entertainment. Out through the Magic Door of the Orchard Room is a magic gate which is the entrance to a fairyland, if you know the rhyme. In this wonderful land lives Sylvia, the only friend Marigold has. But what happens to the magic as you grow up a become entangled with real life?
A Tangled Web is probably L.M. Montgomery’s funniest book. It is the story of two clans on Prince Edward Island. The Penhallows and the Darks. No Dark would ever marry anyone but a Penhallow and no Penhallow would ever marry anyone but a Dark. The undisputed leader of the two clans was 85 year-old Aunt Becky Dark. Aunt Becky was the holder of the “Dark Jug”, a family heirloom greatly desired by everyone in both clans. Knowing she will soon die, she calls a family gathering to announce to the clans who will inherit the Dark Jug. The results of that gathering throws both clans into chaos, as each member tries to position themselves to be the one to get the jug.
Pat of Silver Bush. Pat lived on Prince Edward Island on a farm called Silver Bush. There was her dad, mom, aunt, sister, 2 brothers and Judy Plum. Judy Plum was the old Irish housekeeper that had been at Silver Bush since before Pat’s father was born. Little Pat loved everything just the way it was. Her love for everything ran so deep she simply couldn’t abide any change. Even the smallest change tore at her heart. So imagine Pat’s anguish when Judy Plum announced to her that she would be looking in the Parsley Bed to see if there might be a “wee tiny new baby in there.” And so, with the arrival of a new baby, everything started to change….
Mistress Pat continues the story of Pat Gardiner, Judy Plum, Jingle and a few new characters. Being older hasn’t changed Pat, but unfortunately time has a habit of changing everything else. Pat’s inability to handle change causes her to feel things more deeply than everyone else around her.
Jane of Lantern Hill. Jane Victoria Stuart lived with her mother and her very wealthy grandmother on 60 Gay Street. It was all very upscale and posh and thanks to her grandmother, everyone was very, very miserable. Jane often wished her mother would stand up to the old woman or that she had a father, and maybe he could do it.
Lucy Maud Montgomery CBE (November 30, 1874 – April 24, 1942), called "Maud" by family and friends and publicly known as L.M. Montgomery, was a Canadian author best known for a series of novels beginning with Anne of Green Gables, published in 1908. Anne of Green Gables was an immediate success. The central character, Anne, an orphaned girl, made Montgomery famous in her lifetime and gave her an international following. The first novel was followed by a series of sequels with Anne as the central character. Montgomery went on to publish 20 novels as well as 500 short stories and poems. Because many of the novels were set on Prince Edward Island, Canada and the Canadian province became literary landmarks. By the way, CBE is Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
