Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
It is birthday time and Annie is really excited. She knows that she will be able to get all dressed up and have a great party with her immediate and extended family. She and Henry are cousins and live next door. They love playing together and they enjoy their respective pets, Harry's big dog Mudge and Annie's cat Snowball. Annie has decided that her party will be dress-up, so she gets all decked out in a frilly pink dress, pink stockings, white gloves, and matching pink slippers. Her kitten Snowball is also dressed up and she has made a special request of her Dad—he is wearing his tuxedo. Harry has conveyed the message to his family, but they have interpreted it slightly differently and their version of "dress-up" will give kids a chuckle. No matter, this family has a fine time celebrating and it is a terrific birthday party. Rylant and Stevenson combine their talents to bring readers another charming, warm story.
