Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
It is birthday time and Annie is really excited. She knows that she will be able to get all dressed up and have a great party with her immediate and extended family. She and Henry are cousins and live next door. They love playing together and they enjoy their respective pets, Harry's big dog Mudge and Annie's cat Snowball. Annie has decided that her party will be dress-up, so she gets all decked out in a frilly pink dress, pink stockings, white gloves, and matching pink slippers. Her kitten Snowball is also dressed up and she has made a special request of her Dad—he is wearing his tuxedo. Harry has conveyed the message to his family, but they have interpreted it slightly differently and their version of "dress-up" will give kids a chuckle. No matter, this family has a fine time celebrating and it is a terrific birthday party. Rylant and Stevenson combine their talents to bring readers another charming, warm story. Dress up!

The book I chose to write a book review for is, "Snowball an the Dress up Birthday." The author of this book is Cynthia Rylant. The illustrator of this book is Sucie Stevenson. I chose this book because it is a good fit.
In this story, Annie dresses up in her best clothes and lace. In the beginning Annie and her cousin came over for a birthday. The big idea in this story is Annie had a birthday and she had a dress up birthday. A great quote from the author is, "Annie telephone Henry." My favorite part is when Mudge cleans up.
I would recommend this book for girls 10 and under because it is easier to read and fun to read.

    Annie and Snowball by Kaylie

This book is called Annie and Snowball by Cynthia Rylant. This book is about Annie's birthday. She gets a bunny called Snowball. Her dad got it for her. I love the illustrations! Annie had a dress- up -party for her cousin Henry and Henrys parents and Henry's big dog Mudge. Henry was a pirate and Henrys mom was a pirate. And best of all Henry's dad was a mummy! This book is realistic fiction. It is so funny! I loved it and I give it 5 stars. You will love this story! Happy reading! ?
