Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Nancy Garhan Attebury
Annie, her dad, and Snowball, her fluffy white bunny, live in a big yellow house in a friendly neighborhood. A good part about this is that Annie’s cousin, Henry, his dad and mom, and Henry’s very large dog, Mudge, live right beside Annie’s family. All of them cooperate and do fun things together like working on building projects and checking out backyard critters. But Annie’s dad dreams of having a wife to share things in his life. When he meets Martha his life gets happier and he introduces Annie to Martha and her fun pet Rose Cat. Annie likes them both and after a while Annie’s dad asks Martha to marry him. The wedding turns out to be fun and exciting. Even Snowball, Rose Cat, and Mudge get into the action of getting dressed up and eating fancy treats. This is the thirteenth book in the “Annie and Snowball” series. All are easy to read, contain simple sentences and short chapters, have adventures to which children can relate, and have vocabulary words that are interesting for Emergent Readers. Colorful illustrations capture the personalities not only of the people in the tale, but of the pets, too. Some comical situations are well shown in the pictures. This delightful book is a Level Two Ready to Read book and will fit into classrooms from K through grades two or three. Reviewer: Nancy Garhan Attebury; Ages 5 to 7.
