Overview

As far as '80s collections go, Another Lost Decade: The '80s Second British Invasion is pretty interesting. It gathers 14 songs from some of the biggest names on the U.K. scene; only instead of going for the obvious track in most cases they selected a secondary hit. For example instead of picking Duran Duran's "Rio" the producers choose "The Reflex," and instead of the Human League's "Don't You Want Me," they use "Fascination." This strategy works on two levels, by giving the casual fan the recognizable names they desire but also giving someone who is tired of the same old hits something different. Not too different of course, all the acts here are mainstream and non-threatening, but enough to lift Another Lost Decade above the level of mediocrity most overviews of this nature achieve.
