TRUE PRISON LOVE STORY

This is a true love story. This is the story of The Prisoner's Daughter. She's the daughter of a woman in prison. After her mother was arrested, her life changed directions many times. But, it was the loss of the baby she adopted, whom she'd raised since the day she was born, that took her into a depression so deep, she didn't want to live anymore. She was eventually able to find true love in an unlikely place. She fell head over heels for her long-last best friend, a man who'd been in prison for the last 12 years. Through this love, she was able to find love for life again. This is her story... the true prison love story of The Prisoner's Daughter.

Love shows up sometimes when you least expect it and you need it the most. I was about to turn forty and I felt like I didn’t have anything to live for. Then, my best friend, Jon, called me from prison to wish me a happy birthday. That call changed my life and gave me the strength I needed to get my life and order. Our continued contact made me happy in ways that I could never explain. His belief in me made me believe in myself and before long I had a job, a home and transportation. It wasn’t long before I also had a boyfriend and what had started as a friendship had turned into a budding romance. A romance that was based on a friendship and what had once been platonic was not a sizzling hot romance minus sex that is because he was still in prison and we were unable to physically be together.

For the first time in my life I was celibate except for phone sex and a little self exploration. I wanted to visit Jon but my work kept us apart. When the news came out that I would be free on Christmas day I knew this was my chance to visit Jon and see if things were just as steamy in person. As Christmas day approached I could hardly wait to see him. When the day came I waited anxiously in the visitation area until he came out and all my questions were answered. We had enough chemistry for and army of people and we had a first kiss that still makes me hot and bothered to think about it. Falling in love with your best friend and finding out that he is also the man you want in ways that you never imagined is the love story but the sad part is he is in prison.

Now, we're officially together. He's planning to divorce the wife he married in a prison ceremony. And, we're talking marriage. But, where will love take us from here?

About the Author

My name is Renee Patterson. I write short stories, articles and blogs related to prison loved ones. Being the loved one of many-a-prisoner, I've found that we need support just as much as the prisoners themselves do. I may not need someone to put “money on my books” or drive 400 miles to visit me. But, there are times when I need inspiration to get me through a lonely day of missing my best friend... or a holiday that should be a happy time, but all I can do is long for a hug from my mother.

Prison stories are my niche. I write them, not only to support and inspire others, but to give me strength. I need hope, too. I hope that when my mother is finally released from prison, she'll be ready for the world. I hope that 25-to-life doesn't have to be forever for my favorite younger cousin, or my stupid, young little brother. I hope that the love of my life, my soulmate, the man I hope to marry someday, can stay strong and keep believing that I'm here, for him, waiting, patiently and faithfully. I write to keep from crying. I just hope that someone can pull strength from my stories.

I will always be there for my loved ones in prison... to the best of my ability. And, I understand others who go out of their way for their prison wives, husbands, fiance's, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, etc... These are the people I write for... the loved ones. I am my advocate. I am their advocate. I am not an advocate for prisoners. I am an advocate for their dedicated loved ones.
