I asked when my children were young, "In what ways are our Quaker beliefs relevant to our lives with children?" I hear the same question being asked today.
This pamphlet is my response to that query. It grows out of my Quaker beliefs, my experiences rearing my children and watching my grandchildren grow, and out of my training in child development.
The Quaker belief in the Inner Light has given me values by which I wish to live and guide my children. It has not given me the "nitty gritty" information I need to be a parent. For this information I have turned to psychology and child development.
By discussing and illustrating how religion and psychology have come together in a unifying, meaningful and useful way for me, I hope this pamphlet will prove helpful to others who live and work with children and encourage them to share as they find their answers to the opening query.
