More About This Textbook

Antagonism exists in the church. It leaves in its wake broken lives: people who are hurt, discouraged, and apathetic. Although only a very few persons are antagonists, these individuals have the potential to disrupt and even destroy a congregation's mission and ministry.
In this balanced and practical book, Kenneth Haugk shows how congregational leaders can learn to prevent or reduce much of the pain and suffering caused by antagonism; tell the difference between constructive, healthy conflict and destructive antagonism; and cope with antagonism when it arises.

This book is for anyone who deals with everyone

I have read this book three times in the last two years. It has saved my sanity and strengthened my faith. It is envaluable to anyone who sits on a board, committee, serves in public office. This book is not only for the christian seeking answers to problems within the church, but anyone who has difficulties dealing with certain personality types. As Mel Gibson's character must have 'Catcher in the Rye' with him at all times, so must I have this book within easy reach. This book helps identify the different types of personalities, levels of aggression and how to handle problems before or after they rear their ugly heads. Haugk uses both scripture and common sense to deal with problems that arise every day, in everyone's lives.

Wish I had read this 20 years ago

Nearly three years ago, I had 5 families gather a group together to demand my resignation. I had watched each of them in their individual ways make their attacks - not successfully. They joined ranks and became a force to deal with. I made many mistakes, I would not have made had I read this book first. I may have even prevented it, if I had this material before they got started as individuals. Every pastor ought to read this book. It is very careful to make clear do's and don'ts. I would like to have it on CD or cassett for listening to as I drive.
