Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
In a multiplication lesson, the ants start their march—first one by one, then two by two. The formula is shown in the upper right- or left-hand corner of each page. The text is pretty long but it certainly has a rhythm, and sharp eyes will enjoy the mishaps along the way. Cutouts add a bit more interest showing the raindrops, puddles, and more. However, kids do not usually start counting until about two and multiplication comes much later. It is doubtful that kids reading this board book would grasp the concept. The final table of one hundred ants would allow for additional counting and fun identifying the ants undertaking a variety of activities. The book may be useful for special education programs where fine motor skills are not present and a sturdy board book is useful. The song and music are printed on the back cover. Nursery Education Plus
A highly interactive book full of colour. The children enjoyed listening to the story and then delighted in singing the song at the end of the book. This die-cut book with holes is excellent for encouraging observation, colour and pattern recognition by searching for individual ants. It is also an excellent way to help children develop and understanding of quantities represented by the numerals 1 through to ten.
