The timing for this book could not be better, given the season (political) we are in at this time. It was given to me by another mom and I admit that at first I thought it would be another politically leaning diatribe, blaming, one side or the other. However, before long I thought I was reading something that my own father or grandfather had written, because I had often heard similar dialogue, with respect to the economy, and the politics of the day. However, this author does not go there--blaming any particular political party for the current state of the economy. Instead, you are taken on a brief history of America, with attention to how we rose to be an economic and military superpower, and then to the decline of our manufacturing industries to where they are at this time in history. Along with this decline he describes what is the resultant problem he has written this book on;; solving the unemployment problem in America, through his project called, A.N.T.S. The project itself is exciting and makes sense to a lay person like me, but I will not reveal too much about the specifics. The author provides multiple methods to fund this solution and I did appreciate his providing a briefing on how our congress works, or does not work. The author has chosen to leave the responsibility for making this project a reality, on the people of America. He has a website integrated with his work that provides a means for Americans to contact their representatives and 'lobby' on behalf of this effort. There is a subtle hint behind his writing that suggests we (many of us) have depended on others; government, the press, the other mom, or dad, for making things right in America for far too long, and it us up to us, the people, to lead our country out of the mess she is in. As a mom, I now know why this was passed onto me, and I plan to do the same, but first, I need to go do some lobbying.
