His game plan doesn't include an instant attraction to Emma Hart, a feisty kindergarten teacher who seems to be the only person in Deer Lick not interested in the hometown hero. Or his dearly departed mom popping up with mistletoe in hand and meddling on the mind. Now Dean can't help but wonder if there’s more to love than life between the goal posts.

Meet the Author

With the publication of New York Times bestselling author Rachel Gibson's first book, readers discovered one of contemporary romance's freshest voices. Four of her novels were named among the Top Ten Favorite Books of the Year by Romance Writers of America. She has won numerous awards, including Borders Bestselling Romantic Comedy, National Reader's Choice, and two RITA® Awards for the Best Single Contemporary Romance Title of the Year.

Candis Terry was born and raised near the sunny beaches of Southern California and now makes her home on an Idaho farm. She's experienced life in such diverse ways as working in a Hollywood recording studio to chasing down wayward steers. Only one thing has remained the same: her passion for writing stories about relationships, the push and pull in the search for love, and the security one finds in their own happily-ever-after.

Jennifer Bernard is a graduate of Harvard and a former news promo producer. The child of academics, she confounded her family by preferring romance novels to . . . well, any other books. She left big city life for true love in Alaska, where she now lives with her husband and stepdaughters. She's no stranger to book success, as she also writes erotic novellas under a naughty secret name not to be mentioned at family gatherings.

    This Home Town Romance ROCKS!!!

Who knew that deep inside he was a man who wanted the whole ring, marriage, and kids happily-ever-after?

Dean Silverthorne has some serious issues. Aside from being back in his hometown because of a serious shoulder injury that has the Quarterback on the NFL's injured list, he is also having conversations with his dead mother in her old Buick. If that isn't bad enough, he is crazy about the one woman in town who claims to not even "like him".

Emma Hart wants nothing to do with Mr. Perfect, but it seems that her mind and body are not on the same page when it comes to Dean Silverthorne. Emma has always been the "forgotten" girl and she know with Dean it would be no different. But as she gets to know the REAL man behind the fake smiles, she realizes he is exactly the kind of guy she wants, if she can just help Dean see that he is so much more than just a Football Player.

Any given Christmas brings us back home to Deer Lick with the towns crazy cast of characters all making an appearance, even Letty Silverthorne!

Dean completely stole my heart in Any Given Christmas. How can you not fall for a guy who loves his mother as much as Dean loved Letty, and says that she is his "best friend". SERIOUSLY?? Emma didn't even stand a chance!

    "You love me, Emma."
"Maybe so." Her eyes met his and held steady. "But I'll endure it. I've survived worse."

I am so glad that Emma finally found her Mr. Perfect. I really liked Emma from Second Chance, but just not for Matt...um....if anyone gets him aside from Kate, its me......Sorry, back to the book. Emma was sweet, funny and she really just wanted a "nice" guy to settle down with, who would love her and still hold her hand even when her boobs were droopy.... haha.....Isn't that what we all want?

Dean and Emma's chemistry sparked off the pages from their first meeting. And the Hot Springs....WHAT A WAY TO RING IN THE NEW YEAR!! I loved the watching Dean finally, truly Fall for someone.

By the time the plane had lifted from the runway, he knew by the intense grip on his heart he hadn't forgotten something. He'd forgotten someone.

I had so much fun hanging out with the folks of Deer Lick, well... all but Fawn Derick, she could stand to be taken down a notch....but like Emma, I'm a lady...and us ladies don't throw down...hehe.

Can't believe I have to wait until next year to read about Serious Kelly and the super sexy Deputy Harley! They had some smokin chemistry of their own in Any Given.....I can only imagine what we will be getting when those two come together!!

    FABTASTICALLY AWESOME!!!

I TOTALLY dug Ms. Terry's novel! I loved Dean, I loved Emma, and I LOVED LOVED LOVED Letty! I love the writing style of Ms. Terry's awesome plot line. She doesn't disappoint her readers and keeps bringing them something new with each new page.

Dean. Now THAT'S a guy a woman could love. He's adorable, he's great with kids, and his mama loves. His mama loves him SO much that's she's helping in the romance department......from the other side of the grave! Yup, she's dead, but she's determined to help Dean where he's not so talented. Off the football field and in the romance realm. She wants to see him happily married off to a wonderful, sweet young woman.

Dean, on the other hand, has his hands full. Dealing with an injured arm, meeting Emma at his sister's wedding, having fun meeting the kids that Emma teaches, and well, just all around fighting an attraction to the beautiful teacher.

Emma. I totally LOVED her sweet, charming character. She had a lot on her plate as a teacher and personal loss, but her feelings for Dean weren't unnoticed. Like Dean, she tried to fight it. But by the end....well you'll just have to get your copy NOW to see what happens at the end. Could be good.....could be bad.....but I know that I was surprised!

Sadly, though, this isn't the first book in the Sugar Shack series. Nope. I missed the first one, Dean's sister Kate's story. But, that's OKAY. Because Ms. Terry does an excellent job at keeping the reader up to date and makes the story like a stand-alone title. I wasn't confused in away, but I am now a devoted fan and can NOT wait to go back and get Kate's story! If it's anything like this 5 Book worthy, laugh out loud, lovable, romantic story of Dean's, well I know I will fall in love with it too AND be ready with bells on for another installment! Fabtastical job, Ms. Terry!!!

    Talk about Fantasy Football.....

Love this story of Dean & Emma, two people so different but so much alike. I love how she mixes humor and sadness in her stories. The twist with her mother makes the story so much more fun. Definately a must read for any romance novel addicts like myself! Can't wait for Sister Serious in the next one!

Great story. Lots of twists and turns and eventual HEA. Great chemistry between main characters Dean and Emma. Loved the inclusion of the ghost of Dean's mother to help guide her son. Makes sense to me. I read the first book in this author's Sugar Shack series and followed the story easily (but you don't need to have read it to enjoy this book.) Can't wait for the next book in the series by Candis Terry
