Apello the Piffel: Tales of Godwin/the Boy Magicianby Robert Joseph Ahola
In Apello the Piffel, the second of the Tales of Godwin/The Boy Magician series, the arch sorcerer
Filled with a rich array of fantastic and very funny, highly original characters, Apello the Piffel offers one of the best combinations of fantasy and humor. For readers from 9 to 90, this second in the Tales of Godwin series is a masterpiece of eclectic fantasy.
In Apello the Piffel, the second of the Tales of Godwin/The Boy Magician series, the arch sorcerer Kretch sends the intergalactic mercenary, Blendin the Light Pirate, to steal the magical Orb of Luna back from Godwin and the Rainbow Builders.
But little does Blendin know that, once he does, Kretch has arranged with his henchman, Marcom the Gemgnasher to ambush Blendin and take the prize. This sets off a series of misadventures that sends Godwin to seek the fellowship of the Earth Fairy, Landolen, and to bring back to life a dying dog that he resurrects into an indestructible, hairy rock - A Piffel! - who he names "Apello."
Together, the Boy Magician and Apello the Piffel go out on a mission deep into the mines of Soria, where they must rescue the Plories (the Petal People) from the clutches of Marcom and his altogether stupid, incompetent armies of trolls.
What comes about is one of the most enjoyable, original and humorous tales written in the annals of modern youth fantasy.
Better than Harry Potter? A lot of Godwin readers think so.
